Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Unfortunately the pier to the restaurants has collapsed. We still managed to walk out although it was very unsafe but only one restaurant was still operating. There was a boat taking people out but again only 1 restaurant and it doesn’t look like the others will be reopening. No boats were around really.

We loved Ham Nihn. Ok so it is a little ramshackle but that is part of the beauty of it. People were friendly and when it comes down to it that is what actually makes a place worth visiting. Give it a look with your heart not just your eyes and you just may be surprised when you take the blinkers off.

Went here to check out the pier, great seafood and prices and was disgusted by the smell, trash, mosquitoes, busted roads, and the tour guide vans and cars blaring their horns at everyone on the small street. It's a dirty market, its not cheap, and who wants to eat with flies every where? If you've seen TV shows of dirty third world country markets this fits the bill nicely. Don't let tour guides sell this to you. The pier is worthless to see. You're not there fishing. And the seafood is 3x more expensive than Saigon.

Not nice. Smelly, trash everywhere and the pier is broken so no one can get to the restaurants out on the water

I went by m/bike with a Vietnamese friend who had heard of this place & also recomended by our resort. If you are only into a sanitized western 5* experience its not for you, rubbish & smells at the foot of the pier BUT... if you love fresh seafood. My friend a sea food expert ( fishing background) loved the place, brought fresh crabs along the pier & had them cooked on one of the floating restaurants then blissed out eating dinner.
Word of advice to tourists, do not encourage the kids by buying a starfish it will only keep them on this path (scamming tourists & skipping school) & dont be fooled by accepting a free one, the old lady in the water is a scammer, her shellfish are brought & not fresh & our sources (my Vietnamese friend spoke at length with the kids) is well off,
Great place for a evening dinner, nice sunset and real authentic Vietnam expieriance. Be brave buy some crabs get them cooked on a floating barge or buy them aboard it wont set you back much.

What an amazing place. We ordered crab, mama cooked it and then they helped us eat every morsel available. Love this place and went back several times....

I don’t recommend this place. No idea why this is listed as a turist attraction. There is no path to the pier and you really don’t want to go through all that trash.

We visited the fishing village as a suggestion by concierge at the Radisson Blu Hotel. We are 4 adults travelling in Phu Quoc.
This village is all about eating fresh seafood. Im not sure where it is captured but it is kept in buckets of running fresh water, live seafood. You chose the catch and they either steam it or bbq it for you! You cant go wrong!
I wouldn’t eat the salad but certainly the fresh cooked seafood. We had these unusual small lobster -like creatures which they told us they could only steam. There is no english spoken here, we communicated in sign language! Most of the people on this island do not speak English.
I had a small portion and it was yummy, I never got sick!
The two males in our party said it was the freshest seafood they have ever had! We had a kilo of these mutant looking creatures so they got a good taste of it! Noone got sick!
It was a great experience just to walk down the pier and see the many different types of seafood they offer. Prices were reasonable. I would have expected maybe a little cheaper but we didnt haggle.
To get to the pier is a sight you dont want to see. Keep your eyes on the pier and dont look to either side for the first couple of meters. There is a large build up of rubbish on either side that alarmed me! There is no regulations on rubbish on this island and this is a serious problem.
I wouldn’t jump in this water but I also dont believe the seafood is caught here either. The fisherman go out to deeper waters and bring them into the village.
Really worth a trip out there to see the real thing!

We rented an mc and drove out in the morning, going by the waterfall and arriving at the pier at noon. The town is cute, but the real attraction is the pier. We ate at the furthest out restaurant, and loved every bite. My partner who isn’t huge on fish said it’s the first time he ate himself full in scallops! The service was impeccable, and the Vietnamese lady working there showed us how to best crack our shrimp and eat it. Super fresh, and obviously the scallops were DELICIOUS. Also only about 20 mins on mc from Long Beach.

I going Phu Quoc this coming weekend and plan to go Ham Ninh Fishing Village, but I was being told the fishing village has been relocated and is nothing there? Is that true?
If so, any other nice seafood restaurant can you guys recommend?
Written 8 January 2020
There are at least 10 great restaurants on the pier. If for some reason the pier is closed there are 4 other restaurants on the land. The crabs are fantastic!
