We took this drive at the suggestion of a local. It was beautiful. There is a look out tower at the top elevation. The sign says "moderately strenous" and I would say just plain strenous, but worth the effort.

If you are in East Tennessee be sure to drive the Foothills Parkway. Pleasant ride with fantastic scenery. Many pull offs. Great place for a picnic. Runs off of US 321 between Maryville and Townsend.

Breathtaking views. Enjoy the forest and the views from the various overlooks along the route. By taking it you can bypass Gatlinburg. Stop at the visitor centers to gather more information.

This is a nice road that will take you through the GSMNP. In fact, you can look down on the park. The scenery is magnificent. I went early in the morning and got to see the fog laying in the valley. Truly magnificent. Not very...More

Nice little drive... we recently moved to the area and had to see there this parkway went... we had no clue... It has amazing views similar to the Blue Ridge Parkway. We really were impressed.

This Parkway is absolutely beautiful. It's a 2-lane, winding road that is a great alternative to the Dragon. If you pick it up just off the entrance to the Dragon, you will end up in Townsend. There are several great places to catch a bite...More

If you are wanting a scenic delightful drive this is for you. Currently it is only about 20 miles long with the completion expected sometime in the fall of 2018. The vistas are simply amazing.

I'm from the area originally. I came to visit family for a my longest trip since childhood. My grandmother and I took the parkway as a long route to dinner and it was so phenomenal. Definitely recommend!!

There are a few motels in Townsend, TN, which is just minutes from the Parkway and minutes from the entrance to the National Park. We can also highly recommend renting a cabin with Dogwood Cabins in Townsend!
