We home school our kids and this place was a great way to learn about the old times. Very informative and they really enjoyed seeing how people lived back in 1700s. They got to watch a man sheer a sheep which was cool. Then learn what they do with all that wool. They have summer camps and we will be... More

When my daughter was looking for a rustic venue for her wedding that wasn't going to cost an arm and a leg, Rocky Mount came to the rescue. They offered everything we needed and we had a wonderful experience.

Our family of three, including our 6y.o. Son, had a great day. Re-enactors taught us about life in 1791. We all enjoyed ourselves. Our son got to make a dipped candle, we all tried homemade apple cider, and the reenactors made it an entertaining learning experience. Adorable sheep there too! Great family fun for $15. We spent almost 3 hours... More

As a history buff, I really enjoyed Rocky Mount. Having last visited when I was in elementary school years ago, I had meant to visit again for years and I'm glad I did. The tour is well laid out and the actors do a good job. The museum also contains many interesting items. Well worth the visit.

For once, my husband stopped when he noticed the historic sign on the highway en route to our destination. What a treat! The museum is well laid out, but the best part are the farm buildings and the docents who tell the family history. What we anticipated as a 30-minute stop turned into about two hours. Of particular note was... More

Great little museum and grounds! The main house, cooking area and pioneer style living was enjoyable and was a family friendly afternoon. Very informative and knowledgeable about tennessee and the first capital! We brought our lunch and ate outside in the picnic area!

My husband and I went the last time we were in Tennessee. I love history and learned quite a lot when I was there. The staff was good and took their time in explaining things. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves history and wants to learn something new.

I love historic sites, and reenactment (having been a reenactor myself). This one was disappointing - the reenactors seemed to have memorized scripts, and just went through everything. While they invited questions, there was relatively little demonstration, and mostly just talking. Also, they seemed very reluctant to talk about slavery, which was a part of the history of the site,... More

I love historic sites! I thought this place was really interesting. The costumed guides seem to enjoy their tours and were very willing to answer questions even after a long and hot day. They didn't even break character! They have a schedule of events during the year so there are many times you can visit. It is informative and neat... More
