There aren't many better ways to spend 4 days than on Maria island with a group of 9 fun individuals, including my two wonderful sisters and our guides Kate and Siraan. Jemma in the office made the booking process very easy and had us first time hikers well prepared with lists of what to bring.
Maria Island is paradise - the beaches are pristine; the wildlife is plentiful, especially the cute little wombats; our camps were amazing and so well hidden in the natural environment and the food was gourmet.
Kate & Siraan, our knowledgeable, passionate, super chef guides did a fabulous job. They had us starting the day with gourmet breakfasts, shared their wealth of knowledge about the full history of Maria Island as we hiked, then were cooking us 3 course dinners each night. We could not thank them enough for everything they did to make our 4 days away such a fun time. Absolute highlight for me was the Bishop & Clerk hike and just sitting at the top taking in the amazing views. Life doesn't get more perfect. Thank you to all.... if you are reading this and thinking of doing the walk, book now.

My boyfriend and I recently experienced the Maria Island four day walk. You can’t do the same level of self-guided walk/ experience on Maria Island and I would highly recommend this tour as it showcases the different facets of the island and its wildlife.

Our guides, Samantha and Emma were fabulous. Welcoming, knowledgeable, passionate and fun to be around, they ensured the trip was a fantastic experience. Our trip was portered which meant we were only carrying a day pack. This was a nice luxury and is good if you haven’t done a multi-day hike before or if you just don’t want to carry a heavier pack!

We’re both in our early/ mid thirties and were the youngest guests but we didn’t mind this at all. There were 9 guests on our tour which was a perfect group size. Sam and Emma took time to get to know their guests and provided options for all agility levels and made sure every guest was catered for.

Highlights for us included the more difficult optional hikes to Haunted Bay and Mt Maria, we were rewarded for our efforts with the most amazing views and wildlife (wombats, wallabies, kangaroos, pademelons, echidnas and more). If you are fit and agile then I would highly recommend these options. Equally, there were other less difficult options available for those who preferred walks with less elevation.

The accomodation and food were also highlights. The first two camps are very secluded and whilst the facilities are basic, this is part of the charm and the experience of being in nature. You may even find a very cute pigmy possum hiding in your sleeping bag! The island can get quite chilly so it’s worthwhile packing layers and warm clothes. We went in December and were very lucky that we barely experienced any rain.

The food is also excellent and showcases Tasmanian produce! I was impressed by what the guides were able to prepare despite being in such remote locations. Our dinner meals included scallop risotto, gourmet bbq and herb crusted fish, they also catered to a number of different dietary requirements for guests. The final evening is spent in Darlington in a beautiful heritage home.

Overall we felt that this walk was the perfect balance of challenge, being in nature and a touch of luxury!

We have just completed our 4 day trip and what a great trip it was. There were 9 of us guests ,superbly led by guides Emily and Fin. Although we were all a lot older than both of them, within hours they had our trust ,and we all enjoyed their passion for the outdoors, their enthusiasm, and their professionalism along the way . Plenty of wildlife , spectacular scenery, and great and varied food and wine.
The walking on the first 2 days is very comfortable. The walk to Bishop and Clerk was difficult for me but I’m extremely glad I did it as the views from the top and during the walk are stunning.
The owners, staff and guides clearly have a passion for Maria Island ,and this is infectious. I would strongly recommend this experience to all people who have a Love or at least an interest in exploring this beautiful part of the world . Spend a reasonable time preparing by walking up hills and you will be fine .

Spent 4 days with Maria Island Walk and it was perfect! The itinerary covers the highlights of Maria Island and the staff both pre-trip and on the walk were so helpful.
The cabins or “huts” you stay stay in are comfortable and in a surrounding that is secluded and natural. Wouldn’t ask for any different.

What was a surprise was the quality of meals served!! The guides are also the chefs and kudos to them (Steph and Maya) for all of the excellent preparation.

The hikes can be long (12-17k/day) so this walk is only for those who enjoy this adventure. There is no real alternative to walking to each destination.

It deserves 5 stars out of 5.

We've just come back from the 4 day Maria Island Walk experience. The scenery was beautiful with so many different landscapes. The accommodation was fantastic and the food was immaculately presented and very tasty!
The whole crew were very friendly right from the start with our bus driver (Danny), the boat driver (Ben) and even the owner (Ian) dropping in to say hello.
Our 2 guides (Jaymee and Fearghus) deserve a special shout out: they were extremely professional, very knowledgable and had great senses of humour. Fearghus had a great story for every occasion!! They really made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Thanks for looking after us!!!! J&N

Probably one of the best structured walks in Tasmania. The route, campsites, menus and varied itineraries suited to both the weather and the ability of the group show great forethought and planning. Our guides were knowledgeable and thoughtful young women who went above and beyond to meet, and at times, predict our requests. The transfer boat was piloted by an expert skipper who smoothed out the rough passage from Triabunna and made the trip exciting rather than uncomfortable. I'd give this trip 10 stars if I could... Thank you Jaymee, Liv and Ben.

Spent four wonderful days wandering this little island that sits just off the coast of Tasmania in a stunning passage of water. The island has an amazing history (but I will let the guides tell you that) Walking from one end to the other you are shown the diversity of geology across it. From the pink lichen granite at the bottom to the stunning painted sandstone cliffs then finally the amazing dolorite columns of Bishop and Clerk on mountain day. The guides are incredibly knowledgeable and such wonderful chefs, they bend over backwards to make your trip a memorable one. At the end of each day you sleep surrounded by the sounds of nature... what more could one want....

We recently spent four days on Maria Island with a fabulous group of hikers and two incredible guides. Chloe and Steph are two amazing young women who went all out in their effort to show all of us this beautiful island, feed us extraordinary food and make sure we were all looked after. I continue to be amazed at their constant hard work on our behalf. The island is unbelievably beautiful and while the weather gave us a little bit of everything, because of our guides, we were well prepared and comfortable (most of the time) in spite of a little rain, wind and then, glorious sun! Our accommodations in all cases were great - comfortable "tents" on the walk and then a quaint and comfortable house on the last night. I can't say enough about this trip - while it exhausted me at some moments, I am so happy we did this!

This was my second walk with the Maria Island Walk; I enjoyed the first one so much I came back for a repeat. This time the weather was a bit harsher, with a litttle rain, but that added to the adventure. We were provided with really good rain jackets!

I would recommend the portered walks, if available, as why carry your own pack if it can be moved from camp to camp for you.

The guides are truly excellent; very knowledgeable and very customer focused. Being helped to conquer the top of the mountain was an added bonus.

Hi Peter, Thanks for your lovely review, and it was a pleasure to have you back for a second time on the walk! The portered walks are a very popular option for those who can't carry their own 6-8kg pack, so we're glad that you enjoyed the service. Congratulations on making it to the top of the mountain! It's a great achievement, and I'm glad that the guides helped you get there. Thanks again for joining us.

Our 4 days on Maria Island were amazing. We loved every bit of this trip. Our guides, Sharna & Issy, did an absolutely fantastic job of making sure everything was perfect - food (& wine), accommodation, our nature experiences and the overall adventure which consisted of amazing hikes & swims in pristine beaches. The "social history" on Maria Island is incredibly fascinating and broad - Sharna shared stories to help us understand what the island has seen; from the traditional owners, to explorers, convicts, farmers and finally the National Park it is today. The wildlife exceeded our expectations - we were so fortunate to have many wonderful experiences where we could observe our gorgeous animals & birds enjoying this magnificent bush. We will be recommending this trip to anyone who is looking to hike in Tasmania.
