- Jackie FMinneapolis, Minnesota17 contributionsMind Blowing GoodAbsolutely AMAZING! So much history & love of music here. I could have spent the whole day just to see everything. Hoping to find a book so I can revisit many times without the travel.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 October 2023
- Claire OSan Antonio, Texas11 contributionsFascinatingThis museum is a must see for music lovers! It has fabulous interactive exhibits that are fun and informative. The story starts with the African music that slaves brought with them, through the development of different streams of jazz, R&B, Gospel, Blues, Rock and Roll, Pop, Hip Hop, and Hip Hop. It chronically the musicians who innovated and influenced subsequent musicians. There are some cool artifacts, too. I recommend it!Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 17 October 2023
- Dana KBensalem, Pennsylvania91 contributionsAn awesome experienceI was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this museum. I spent close to 4 hours in the museum and probably could've spent another hour. There was so much to see and do, from singing with a gospel choir, following along with choreography to popular songs, mixing your own beats, singing/rapping along to tracks, and just exploring the roots of different types of music. I'm already planning another trip to Nashville with friends so that I can experience the museum again. I would highly recommend that you visit if you're planning to visit Nashville.Visited December 2023Travelled soloWritten 10 December 2023
- NmababyLagos, Nigeria213 contributionsReally Wonderful and the fact that the music moves every fibre of your being makes it the more beautiful to enjoy. Let the MusicImmediately you step in to the centre, what hits one is A serene joyful place, careful where all worries are thrown out to enable the enjoyment of the blasting music. You see people dancing and just happy. And watching the film Root which traced the genres of the African American music was an eye opener and to note why music still plays a great role in their everyday lives.Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 16 January 2024

- StraightScoopDC164 contributionsA really fun experience, with lots of great music to listen to and great historical info about itI really loved this museum. The interactive displays were highly engaging. throughout the museum, stations allowed you to listen to music from an artist, and showing who influenced them and who they influenced. We had fun singing gospel and being projected into a video of a choir ... good fun! Also a great overview of important (and often overlooked) musical history.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 February 2024

Great interactive musical history from an African American perspective. Videos, the ability to create music and create playlists to take with you. This museum kept my children's interest for close to three hours and they want to attend again. Ask for a card reader for all in your party so that everyone can create their own digital experiences.

NMAAM has done a wonderful job presenting the enormously varied and immense contributions made by African Americans to America's "Rivers of Rhythm." Loved the interactive displays where you can designate songs that you have listened to for a free download. I got a kick out of singing "Oh Happy Day" with a virtual Bobby Jones Gospel Choir (you'll get a short video clip with you superimposed within the choir.) Schedule a guided tour if you can.

Loved it! Visited the museum on a Friday late afternoon. Staff was helpful at the beginning when you check in, telling you how the museum works. There's also a guide after the video that helps to guide you.
The museum is super interactive, which kept my attention as I moved through exhibits. I loved the wristband that allowed me to save everything I "created" or songs I liked along the way.
I enjoyed myself so much I stayed way past closing -- which I had not noticed because staff wasn't kicking people out (which I appreciated after I realized!).

We had a groovy time dancing and recording. I created my own Sweet -D beat. We were out of breath by the 6th song when it was time to record. Our first recording was singing with the Bobby Jones Massa Choir. We created some awesome play list to download and enjoy for years to come. In the voice of Nina Simone we were "Feeling Good"!!! #mymusicsound

We saw several music-related venues in Nashville and this one was the best of all. If you enjoy gospel, blues, R and B and hip hop, this is the one for you. We spent 2 hours but could have stayed 4 because we listened to so much great music. Very well done history of all the genres. And guests can create their own play list!

We visited the museum upon the recommendation of lovely front desk rep at our hotel. So glad we listened. It was a great way to spend an afternoon. Def worth a visit if music moves you and you're interested in the origins of the only music that originated in America; blues, jazz, hip hop, r&b and country (not as much in this genre but the whole city is devoted genre) and it was all so interesting!

We had a really good informative time, learning about different kinds of music, artists, and how they got started. This is a new museum, very crowded on the day we went, lots of family reunions there at time. Museum had activities for you to engage and participate in, which was very nice. It even had a D J, room to dance and a store to buy items from museum.

You can buy them at the door. Pay the extra for the wrist bands to make your own play list. You won't regret it! This is an amazing museum.
