Add some exotic to the everyday with Nashville Zoo at Grassmere. Wander...

Add some exotic to the everyday with Nashville Zoo at Grassmere. Wander through a lush canopy of bamboo, come face to face with a clouded leopard, feed some Australian parrots, and delve into the far reaches of the Amazon. Nashville Zoo is your ticket to African giraffes, poison arrow frogs, zebras, red pandas, kangaroos, gibbons, meerkats and much more!

Children of all ages will be fascinated with the zoo’s Highlighted Habitats. Find out why a baby giraffe likes warm temperatures. Walk the winding path through 4,500 square feet of naturalistic Australian landscape in the Kangaroo Kickabout. In the Kickabout, you will be in the home of a troop of red kangaroos. Keep your eyes and ears open for the cockatoos that also live in Kangaroo Kickabout.

In between your animal adventures, be sure to take a spin on our Wild Animal Carousel, get a new view of the Zoo from Soaring Eagle zip line, monkey around our 66,000-square-foot Jungle Gym, or even step back in time on the walking tour at our Grassmere Historic Home and Farm. When you visit the 1810 historic home, you will learn about the name “Grassmere” and how the zoo came to be located there.

Fun and quiet

This is a lovely zoo and in a very quiet area. Beautiful setting and lots of great exhibits. Definitely worth a stop.

I'm a sucker for zoos. I try to visit one in every city I'm vacationing in. This one was nice. We spent about two hours here. The weather was already starting to get cool and some of the exhibits were closed or under construction. Nevertheless, we had a great time. Got lots of pictures and OMG the kangaroos are so... More

Nashville zoo is a work in progress. But the progress seems slow. I like great apes and big bears. There are none of these there. Where did the elephants go? I do think the Nashville zoo will be as good as some other nearby zoos in about 20 years. Please go support our zoo so your admission money will go... More

Visited November 12 and saw everything there was to see in two hours. Lots of exhibits were shut down and not a lot of animals to see for a zoo. My son thought the animals looked "depressed"! Grounds are clean and it looks like there is a lot of building going on. The main attraction seemed to be the zip... More

We recently moved to the middle Tennessee area from south central Indiana. Our 4 year daughter is an animal lover. The zoo is doing a lot of construction and a few exhibits are closed or empty. We were especially excited to see the elephants, but they are no longer there. We were rather disappointed with the lack interactions for children.... More

Date Visited: Nov. 12, 2016 Pros: Very clean, different animals Cons: Pushy people, a bit small I have been to the zoos in Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Albuquerque all within the last 6 months and this ranks right up there in the top 3. Compared to Knoxville (my home zoo) this is a gorgeous place. Yes some exhibits were closed (I... More

So we visited the zoo in the morning, which was a great time to go, cooler, not as many people, etc.. The animal exhibits was great with lots of variety and fairly easy to get around. Wish we didn't have to pay for parking, $5. We did pay for extras, we got $13 worth of tickets, which we used for... More

It has been several years since I lasted visited the zoo – and was I surprised at the recent renovations! Some exhibits are still under construction, but the existing ones are very pleasant. It was a Saturday afternoon and traffic became heavier in early-mid afternoon. Most of the animals were out. It appears or at least from what I remember... More

Don't bother, stay home and watch animal planet. Highlight was the snakes above the urinals. Virtually no animals, not enough signs to tell you where to go. If you're 2 years old or have never been out of your house before nor ever seen a zoo on television, you'll love it
