When I first visited this centre a few years ago, the wetlands was in flood and the centre was closed- it was Covid.

I visited again this week and it was open... I finally got to go inside and look around. It's really well set up - an information area, a gift area, information brochures, toilets and there is an area right behind it with a beautiful garden looking over a pool of water.

Further, the lady inside was so informative. Only because of her assistance did I take a different road home and it was incredibly scenic. She also was able to give me ideas for more day trips.

If you are in Yea, I would put this on your list of things to do... because whilst the wetlands area is flooded and inaccessible at the moment... you can still enjoy the garden and the centre.

This is an unusual way to review this.. the centre wasn't actually open. BUT ... you can walk around the side... access the BBQ area at the back of the building and go for a walk around the garden directly behind the building.

I absolutely loved how they described what the indigenous peoples had used the plants for. There are heaps of signs... often directly above the plant they are describing. It was utterly fascinating.

There is a water bottle filler at the back of the building... once again, completely accessible even though the centre was closed.

There is car parking available and there are points of interest around the building. The wetlands area starts next to the building. In fairness... I would give this more stars IF it had been open...but alas, it wasn't. I am guessing that is Covid related ...so while it is disappointing, it is also understandable.

Came to Yea to see the Yea Wetlands with a group of photographer friends on the weekends.

The Discovery Centre Lady on duty was informative, friendly and very helpful.

Toilets available here and has a nice gift shop area.

Apparently for groups they will also do a Devonshire Tea if you book.

Happy with my visit here.

This centre uses modern techniques to provide information on the local wetlands and items which impact it. It also provides good information on the local aboriginal heritage and particularly the local plants key to their lifestyle. More detail can also be gained from short walks leading from the centre. The centre also has a nice picnic spot including free bbq.
