About
The Y Water Discovery Centre incorporates a fully accredited Visitor Information Centre and interactive environmental interpretive displays to inform visitors about the importance of water resource management and local wetland ecology. Located adjacent to the Yea Wetlands the Centre is a striking, architecturally designed building incorporating sustainable design elements. A range of programs for primary and secondary school groups are offered as well as guided tours of the Wetlands which include a devonshire tea. The friendly team can provide information on a wide range of activities and points of interest, accommodation and dining options, and travel directions. The Centre also incorporates a gift shop stocking a range of products for sale including books, maps, games & toys, jewellery, skincare, local produce and clothing. Many of the items are hand-crafted by local artisans and producers who offer a unique and very special selection of products. Outside there is a picnic area with BBQ facilities, ample on-site parking and a recreational vehicle dump point.

This is an unusual way to review this.. the centre wasn't actually open. BUT ... you can walk around the side... access the BBQ area at the back of the building and go for a walk around the garden directly behind the building.

I absolutely loved how they described what the indigenous peoples had used the plants for. There are heaps of signs... often directly above the plant they are describing. It was utterly fascinating.

There is a water bottle filler at the back of the building... once again, completely accessible even though the centre was closed.

There is car parking available and there are points of interest around the building. The wetlands area starts next to the building. In fairness... I would give this more stars IF it had been open...but alas, it wasn't. I am guessing that is Covid related ...so while it is disappointing, it is also understandable.

Came to Yea to see the Yea Wetlands with a group of photographer friends on the weekends.

The Discovery Centre Lady on duty was informative, friendly and very helpful.

Toilets available here and has a nice gift shop area.

Apparently for groups they will also do a Devonshire Tea if you book.

Happy with my visit here.

Well presented information on the local wetland
Jul. 2018 • Couples
This centre uses modern techniques to provide information on the local wetlands and items which impact it. It also provides good information on the local aboriginal heritage and particularly the local plants key to their lifestyle. More detail can also be gained from short walks leading from the centre. The centre also has a nice picnic spot including free bbq.

Interactive for all ages
Apr. 2018 • Couples
Excellent inside outside exploration for all ages. The interactive section in the YWater centre is so much fun. The shop has fantastic gifts and nic knacks at very reasonable prices. Then wetlands is a marvel so many birds to sit and listen to at the seating are great place for a picnic lunch, keep your eyes open for a platypus. All in all a great day out any time of the year
