About
Yileena Park is a family owned Cellar Door, Winery and Vineyard located in the beautiful Yarra Valley just one hour drive north east of Melbourne. The vinyard was established in 1998 and comprises 5 acres of Pinot Noir, 5 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon and 2.5 acres of Merlot. It is situated on a north facing slope at the base of the Christmas Hills which keep it cool and protected. And the grey loam soil surfaced over a rock studded clay base make it ideal for growing premium wine grapes. The vineyard is pruned to produce between 1-2 tones of fruit per acre which allows the vines the opportunity to completely ripen the fruit. Our watering system is an American Sub-surface drip irrigation type, which delivers the water and organic liquid fertilizer directly to the vine’s roots. It allows for excellent control over our watering which we judiciously monitor. The unique sandstone cellar door at Yileena Park was opened in 2006. It is anchored back into a steep hill to ensure cool cellaring of our premium wines as the ground floor is virtually buried underground. Climb the superbly timber panelled stair case to the warmly inviting tasting room which is swathed in Tasmanian Myrtle and features and open fire place, an ornate Victorian mantle and a beautifully detailed granite bar. French doors open onto an expansive deck affording views over the vineyard and the beautiful Yarra Valley. The deck is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine with a pre-ordered cheese platter. When you visit Cellar Door you must also sample our unique smoked delicacies. These are infused with the smoke from old wine barrels and the combination of wine and oak flavours imparts an amazing flavour that needs to be tasted to be believed. Our smoked products are only available at Cellar Door and include smoked salt, olives, nuts, mustard, olive oil, red wine vinegar and cheeses. With such close proximity to Melbourne this stunning Celar Door, Winery and Vineyard is so accessible. We look forward to seeing you when you are next in the Yarra Valley.

Went there on the Good Friday when most other wineries were closed. No booking
The owners welcomed and accomodate us.
Tried the lovely wines with explanation for each one of them. No hurry and no pushing
The cheeses were magnificent
Tasting wines costs 10 diallers and of course worth every penny of it

This was how we spent our Valentines day 2022! We could not have asked for a better day weather wise, and sitting out on the balcony at Yileena Park with the views of the vineyard was just the start. We felt privileged to have the winemakers themselves Bob and Dianne Curtis as our hosts. Bob was happy to sit with us and share his knowledge of the region and the wines with hilarious stories only winemakers can share.

Don't look for the standard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir here, these wines are something special! We got to try their amazing Pinot Blanc, sadly sold out now, The incredible Merlot Rose {check out the amazing colour in the photos} and Bob was able to educate us on the different types of Pinot Noir. My wife is now a convert to the more earthier tones from the 2017 vintage than her usual fruit forward Pinot Noirs,{ her review - YUMMY!}

Finally, lunch! Dianne puts together some amazing platters. from the smoked cheddar and blue chesses, the Dukkah with spices, nuts, dried fruit and our favorite, the Merlot marinated olives. We also ordered a selection of sliced meats that included Duck, Kangaroo, chicken and Ham, all cured/smoked to be exceptionally tasty and fresh. Don't forget to finish with the Blue cheese and Topaque, who needs dessert! We could not finish it all and Dianne packed it for us to take away. You will not be Hungry after this feast!

The best part of our visit was the personal experience given to us by Bob and Dianne. We felt very privileged that they took the time to share their passion for the region and the wines. Sharing stories, laughter and knowledge over great food and exceptional wines is the best way to spend an afternoon in our book. If you get the chance to go, dont forget to ask Bob about the Donkeys!

We do visit a few wineries but do not usually review. This is a lovely winery with a great host The wines are interesting and the smoked cheeses we were introduced to are really enjoyable.

Bob and Diane are passionate producers who care about their craft and their customers. You will get to hear all about each wine, its path from the vineyard to your palate, and tips for food or cellaring. They also do very impressive smoked foods using wine barrel chips which creates a unique flavour. Highly recommended.

Stopped by because it was close to our accommodation, and the proprietor Dianne was super helpful and friendly. We chose a rose to go with our dinner, and liked it so much we stopped by the next day to grab another bottle. The two donkeys are adorable and friendly, and Dianne even let us feed them, which was kinda fun.

We stopped at Yileena Park as part of our winery tour and it was honestly the best part of our day. Bob who did the tasting with us was the most informative and knowledgeable host. He provided us with such a fantastic overview of his property and how the wines are made, taught us how to swirl, answered all our questions and was such a great storyteller. He was also hilarious, had us all in tears and is the most open and honest person I have met. At times we felt like we were at a comedy show. Sitting on the balcony, enjoying the wines and learning about the area made for such a relaxing afternoon (Bob has us all laughing so hard for telling my sister to stop moving around). I also had one of the best cab sav's I have ever had. Will make sure to stop past here next time we are in the area. Thank you Bob for a truly memorable authentic experience.

My partner and I stopped at Yileena Park on a tour we booked of the Yarra Valley. It was our favourite stop of the entire day and something we still talk about months later. Bob and Di were such wonderful and knowledgeable hosts. The wines we tried and platters we tasted were incredible, truly one of a kind. We cannot wait until we can go back. A truly beautiful spot!

We enjoyed an excellent tasting experience at Yileena. It’s a boutique so there is a limited range but we liked them all. We sat on the deck and enjoyed the view during the tasting. Bec provided excellent service - very knowledgeable about the wines. She also provided carrots so we could feed the donkeys!
