Not what I expected. It was large had more stalls than it look like from the outside. Lots of food options. Was a very relaxing walk around. Mostly on good concrete grounds. Play ground for kids. Well worth a vist.

It’s wonderful to see the Yarra Glen Market back where it belongs – at the Racecourse. On this expansive space set in the greenery of the Yarra Valley, this is another one of the CMA’s signature markets popular with locals, tourists and Melbournites looking to explore beyond their urban surroundings.
There are around 300 stalls and with a criteria of hand-made / home-made, you’ll find exquisite food, clothing, homewares, plants, cards, artwork, muesli, veggies, fruit and so much more. The quality is exceptional – you won’t find imported rubbish here and its fabulous to see the ingenuity and creativity of people. Everything sold at the new market has to be fresh, home-made, good value and above all exceptional quality. Tick!
As with any market in Victoria, come prepared for ever-changing weather. Pop that brolly in your bag if you’re not sure it’ll rain because it most probably will. The mornings can be chilly but in the warmer months the sun can be scathing, so slip slop slap!
Wondering what to eat? Don’t worry, there are dozens of different places that sell the most delicious food. Whether you’re a vegetarian, vegan or carnivore – you’ll find something that will tickle your taste buds.
I bought a gorgeous bag from Urban Tree House and have been using it daily. It’s a fabulous lightweight everyday bag that I can see will last me a long time. The simplicity of these bags are the secret to their success along with the sweet patterns and designs.
Keep your eye out for some different gift ideas like the large rulers as an alternative to measuring growing family members on the door frame. No market is complete without plants and shrubs and there are a number of stallholders that bring their greenery along to sell. Their knowledge and expertise is something you can draw upon in choosing items for your garden.
For parents there is a perfect grassy lawn area under large leafy trees where you can have a picnic while the kids are on the playground. Or make the most of the animal farm near the grandstand, face painting or stalls that are for kids. Take time to soak up the beautiful Yarra Valley views.
If you like to beat the crowds, come early or for the last hour that it’s open. Otherwise, expect lots of people, prams, wheelchairs, kids, families, singles, couples – you name it – they come to this great market.
You can also explore the small town of Yarra Glen with the Grand Hotel, the little cafes that are popping up, antique shop and homewares. The Chocolaterie is only a short drive from the market and you can find more information here. Yering Station Vineyard is five minutes away and you can find more information here and the Farmers Market here.
OPENING HOURS: 9am to 2pm. Operates the first Sunday of every month. Closed January, July and August however, there is a second market date in December which is a Twilight Market.
LOCATION: Yarra Glen Racecourse, Armstrong Grove, Yarra Glen. 54 kms from Melbourne.
PARKING: There is plenty of parking onsite with a cost of $4 and the money goes back into the community.
DISABLED ACCESS: Good disabled access with all stalls accessible on pathways.
ATM: The nearest ATM is in Yarra Glen. Please bring small notes as it’s problematic if everyone brings $50’s. Many stallholders have EFTPOS and credit card facilities.
ENTRANCE FEE: No fee.
DOGS: Not permitted. Please abide by these rules.
FOOD: There are plenty of food vans including pizza, donuts, calamari, souvlaki, paella, freshly squeezed juice, poffertjes and more.

WOW! We're blown away by this in depth review of the market. We are honoured that you have taken the time to give TripAdvisor readers such a detailed description of the market. We will pass on your feedback to the stalls you specifically mentioned - they will be thrilled.
Please note there is an ATM within the market and while there s no entrance fee there is a parking charge of $4 per car, which goes towards Dixon's Creek Primary School and Yarra Glen Cricket Club whose members volunteer to help supervise the parking in return for donation to their organisations.

This has to be one of the best markets in Victoria for a number of reasons. It has certainly changed over the years with being relocated for a few years then back to the Yarra Glen Racecourse.
Here you will find so many handmade, homemade items that are of high quality.
So let's start at the beginning. Parking is best within the car parking area of the racecourse. Today it cost me $4 which I think is a little steep even though I know it goes to charity. It's a short walk from there to the entrance.
The layout of the market is well designed that you can go down one aisle and up another. Most stalls are under canopies.
Can't speak highly enough of the wares for sale. The owners are genuine artisans and what they have on offer is not often seen at other markets. They love what they do and market and always worth supporting something local than from a department store.
Toilets are easily located. Green areas for kids to play including a fabulous playground.
There is a large pavilion where some stall holders have their stalls out of the sun. Here on the north and south side area places to eat, sit under large trees and eat on some of the many takeaway food stalls. Whether its' gozleme, burgers, vegetarians catered for, fresh lemonade - there is something for everyone.
Note that dogs are now allowed at this market. The market closes at 1pm.
The entire market is wheelchair friendly. Easy for a stroller. Great for kids. Good parking.

Always a fabulous market Yarra Glen. Food, clothes, novelties and crafts!! what more could you ask for. Hundreds of quality stores/ stalls, not cheap rubbish like some other markets sell. These stall holders sell awesome things and a great variety and quality products too. I Always leave with something, never empty handed. Have been at least 10 times or more in past few years and still always discover something new and unique. Worth a trip and the food is great also so its a great day out. It does get busy and can be full on with prams etc so get there early. Parking is easy due to large carpark. Enjoy!! and visit soon

As a serial market attendee - I second the other reviewer (Oct 19). This is my 3rd sporadic visit to this one. Always love it & the location is great. $4 parking in the racecourse field. As with all craft & produce markets - the early bird will benefit (easy park & you get the first to choose from the artisan wares). It is a big market & you can be walking around for a few hours. Be equipped with your shopping bags or trolley. Artisan wines/cider/oils, sauces, dips etc will weigh you down.
The food stalls are a bit pricey. I had average tasting small quesadilla for $12.

Easy to park but get there early as the parking quickly fills. A good mix of food and other market items. Plus lots of food to consume whilst there. Could do with more seating.

Market was good. Weather was great, so wasn’t cold and not too hot. Very busy as usual. Lots of products. It’s somewhere I would go again and recommend.

This is one market that is relaxed but with different choices of different items that are hand made. And your not pushed or pressured to purchase anything from anyone. Such a lovely change to some markets.

What is the general range of prices for goods at this market? For example, if I had $100 to spend how far might that take me - in terms of food or jewellery or clothing etc.
