Off the beaten track but worth a visit. The light and stillness in the forest is special, and the giant birds nest adds novelty for photos. Although a planted forest, you still get the feeling of the awesome grandeur of these magnificent trees. We will visit again.

We went mid morning on a Saturday and found it very difficult to get parking. The lot was full and we had to do a couple of circuits until a spot became available.
Glad we were patient though as it was absolutely lovely.
The trees are very impressive and the walking track takes you through some beautiful areas along by the river and bush land.
Despite lots of people being there it wasn’t especially crowded.

Perfect for the family, all ages. The car park is literally right next to the forest, you can then walk in as far as you would like to go and explore things like the Dragon's nests and the beautiful easy walks at the back of the forest along the stream. We arrived around 10am and wondered why there was a guy selling donuts and coffees to a pretty empty car park, HOWEVER when we came back the place was PACKED. Cars were everywhere and parking was jam packed for 100's of metres - strongly advise arriving in non peak times to avoid the car crush, but once there - it's a forest, it handles loads of people, no lines, its free, bring a picnic, whatever.
Amazing history and great photo opportunities everywhere.

When we finally found this forest we were blown away. As you enter there is an unbelievable silence beneath the redwood canopy. The careers of this forest have kept it very clean and fallen branches have been made into giant nests. The stroll through the trees down to the creek was certainly the highlight to our day.

It was indeed a day trip from Cranbourne East for us and worth of all walking from main street as it was a packed day with cars. was blown away by those majestic trees and scenic view it provides 360 deg to naked eye. utter silence in that very place can devour your feelings the moment you step in to the middle of those giants. Peacefulness in one word

This is a lovely spot and well worth the short drive out of Warburton. Inside the ‘forest’ of redwoods it feels a little bit other-worldly and it is quite beautiful. Plenty of photo opportunities and the giant nests are a great attraction. Be aware that the road in here is tight and rough - you can certainly do it in a family car but you need to take care. It can also be quite busy (certainly was when we were there) so have some patience on the narrow road with oncoming vehicles and also in the carpark where it can be quite tight.

If you love trees , then you just cannot miss this place . The redwood trees are very very tall & once inside you will be captivated by its height . Though the trees are just about 100 years old unlike the California where they are not only giant but very old also.
Once inside it's quite , not much of a crowd . If you like to be surrounded by trees then this is must visit to energise yourself.
You don't have any restaurents or eatery inside which is good as many times the people come & the littering happens . So make sure you bring your water bottle to quench your thirst , some snacks in case you feel hungry. Inside we did not find any food joints.
Happy that I took time out to see this place . Thank you to the local People & the Yarra community for maintaining this place ♥️🙏🙏💥🌈✅️🙌

A spectacular place for a day trip from Melbourne and a very short drive after visiting Warburton.
Beautiful scenery and a great variety of photographic opportunities abound.
This small forest of towering Sequoia redwood trees, is planted among Radiata pine and the natural bush setting that surrounds the plantation.
Information boards are available if you want to learn the history of the planting.
There are several well-marked trails, picnic spots and a walk along Cement creek as it snakes its way from Mt. Donna Buang and merges with the Yarra River at the edge of the park.
Although being open 24 hours there are however, only 100 parking spots that fill up very quickly over busy holiday times and weekends.
Arrive early to ensure you get a parking spot.
There is also a one-way bridge crossing to the parking area that makes it that little bit more congested.
Be aware, there are no toilet facilities and ensure you take your rubbish with you.

Dumbest thing I've ever heard saying you cant social distance in a forest. There's big flashing VMS boards in Warburton but because of where we stayed we missed them and showed up only to find the car park blocked off. I had to google to find the articles about why.

1st time visit. Grandkids had a ball hiding in and out of these trees. They are planted in straight lines so we eventually found our way out to car park (just nowhere near car)
The light dapples through the leaves while birds can be heard but not seen. In the general area there are Lyre birds but I wasn’t lucky enough to spot (too slow to see when someone else spotted them).
The river was running fast due to recent early snow. Became a bit slippery nearby, so take care.
It was a great experience with family but also as a retreat.

Hi, with the Cement Creek Road Bridge closed, what is the closest access point via foot? I'm walking/riding with a 5year old so ideally under 5km. Thanks!

I'm not aware of any day trips at the moment sorry! You can get public transport though - make your way to the Lilydale train line and get off at Lilydale Station to catch the 683 bus as that runs to Warburton. Only downside is that this method will take about 3 hours. Sorry I can't be more helpful!

As others have said the Carpark would be ok for someone in a wheelchair. Accessing the forest would be more challenging, the floor of the forest is covered by pine needles,. There maybe a place on the grassy flat side of the forest where you could access

How far is this walk in kms?? A round trip there and back??

The difficulty is finding the forest. I think it is a short way down Cement Creek Road and you have to look well for the road sign. When you get there it is only a very short walk, depending how far you want to walk into the trees.Well worth going to. I think there is another smaller forest closer to town.
