Picnic on the bridge

What a lovely setting for a picnic lunch midway touring the regions wineries. Wine tasting was informative & a few wine purchases for lunch and to take home.

Imagine being trapped at Pfeiffer Wines by an unpredicted heavy downpour of rain, with the whole range of Pfeiffer Wines available for tasting and the undivided attention of the cellar door staff to answer our questions. It happened to us. We arrived before the downpour and had time to stroll through the gardens down to the amazing bridge over Sunday... More

Pfeiffer's Winery is in a beautiful shady bush setting with a surprise. As you follow the path down the hill there is a bridge built across a waterway and looking down into the water you will see dozens of turtles swimming around. It is such a peaceful location and is perfect for picnicking. The winery itself is well run with... More

Pfeiffer wines was a highlight of our visit to the Rutherglen wine region. We enjoyed a hearty and delicious picnic undercover of native trees near a turtle-filled river. Afterwards, we moseyed back up to the tasting room where Natalie walked us through a huge variety of wines. No charge for the tasting and we came away with 11 bottles between... More

Hello Hayley B, Thank you for your great review and recommendation to others following your visit to Pfeiffer Wines. Sounds like you sat in our shady nook for your picnic just near our Sunday Creek Bridge. It is "the best" spot during Summer cooled by the shade of the trees and the mist from the water. Please come back and... More

Great service by Kate very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. After being a member of the Naked Wine Club had to visit Pfeiffer Wines and sample some great wines on offer from Reds to Whites and was not disappointed. No charge to sample either. A great place to picnic in the shade of large mature trees and if you have kids they... More

Pfeifer Wines do things beautifully. You can pick up a hamper and eat it in the well maintained garden and feed the turtles on the bridge. Information about the wines and the region was exceptional

Sorry Sarahf6.. your photo and review both seem incomplete... I too purchased the cheese platter.. the $15 one.. photographed here.. more than ample and absolutely deliscious.. 10 out of 10 to the chef at "Baby Cakes" and to Pfeifers. I think Sarah's platter had already been sampled by the look of the empty spaces.

Eight friends headed off to visit winery's in the area. We ended up at Pfeiffer's after visiting another in the area. The service we all received from Kate highly exceeded our expectations. She was not only very knowledgeable about all the wines, she was enthusiastic and friendly! We loved it and will definitely be back again to buy some more... More

Best winery we visited. The tasting service was great. The staff were attentive but not pushy. Smaller then some of the other places but has so much more character. Book ahead for the picnic (24hrs prior) as they looked great.

Where else can you sit on a bridge, over the river, drinking gamay and cocktails, in Rutherglen, on a Tuesday night, high-summer? Nowhere!!! Get amongst it!
