Like most of the wineries in the region there are some lovely wines here and it is in a charming setting. Also like some other wineries, there is a tasting fee which I certainly don't have a problem with. But this was the only winery that we visited in the region where this wasn't redeemable on purchase. My wife and I purchased a couple of bottles and were charged $10 on top for the tasting. There may be a redemption if you spend a certain amount on wine but obviously two bottles wasn't enough. I'm not criticising Lake Moodemere, but just pointing this out for anyone wanting to only purchase a few bottles. For the record, over four days we purchased 47 bottles in the region.

We decided to have the 2 course menu (Entrees & Mains) with the option of adding a sweet at the end if we wanted.
Complimentary olives and crisps were a nice start, followed by entrees that were both quite tasty (Kangaroo tail and Razorback prawns). For mains we went with the Wagyu steak for my husband and Pork with slaw and crackling for myself with a side of potatoes to share. My husband was very happy with his steak, as we both were with the potatoes, but unfortunately my pork seemed to be missing the crackling. I queried this with one of the chefs who was passing by, and he commented that yes there was meant to be crackling but they had run out. I was a bit taken aback as there was no apology that it was missing or no offer to substitute anything else in it's place (and when your meal is meant to consist of just 3 things and you only get 2 of those things, you feel a bit cheated). To add insult to injury I discovered that the meat was quite pink and undercooked when I started to eat it. I really don't like having to complain, but needed to be able to eat something other than just the slaw (especially considering the price it was costing), so I asked it to be taken back to the kitchen. When it was brought back it was cooked perfectly, not at all dry and with just a slight tinge of pink. The waiter said the Chef wanted me understand that the Sous Vide technique used to cook the pork meant that it could appear undercooked, but that it was temperature checked and was definitely cooked to be medium/rare. This was all fine, but I would have thought that this could maybe have been explained at the time of ordering, as if I had known that, plus the fact that there was no crackling, I probably would have ordered something else.
By this time we had gone off the idea of a sweet, and no-one came back near us to ask if we wanted anything further anyway, so we finished up and went inside to pay.
We bought a bottle of wine and left feeling a bit jaded by the whole experience.
At no time was there any offer to compensate for the missing food item or inconvenience of having to send food back to the kitchen.
Can I please suggest to the staff that should place a bit more importance on keeping the customers informed. If they can't supply part of a meal they need to let the customer know, and should definitely offer something in its place. They should also advise if something is going to be presented outside of normal expectations (I doubt that anyone feels comfortable eating pork that is pink to red in the middle).
Sorry, but can't say I'll be returning or recommending Moodemere Estate on the basis of this experience.

We had a lovely lunch consisting of smoked trout for entree and lamb with duck fat potatoes for mains. The food and wine was superb also had the chocolate dessert with coffee. It was so lovely to sit out under the trees overlooking the lake would recommend this estate the owners & staff were a delight too.

We had made a point of coming here before we left the area and we weren't disappointed. We were seated outside in the new deck area, with a great view over the lake area. We chose the 3 course set menu at $70 plus matching wines for $30 (3 glasses of wine). The lamb was succulent and when paired with the salad and duck fat potatoes, which were the best I have had, it was just fantastic. What an experience and we will make a point of coming here again when next in the area.
One final tip - the muscat served with dessert was incredible.
A must visit when in the area

My husband and I spent two nights in the Lake cabin and had lunch at the restaurant.
I can highly recommend the lunch with wine pairings. The dishes were delicious and cooked perfectly, wine selections were also very enjoyable. Service was also prompt and friendly.
The cabin was very adequate in size for two. It was very comfortable, clean and modern with adequate kitchen equipment. The cabins is private with views of the lake through the trees. Access to the water is a little difficult as it is down a large steep embankment. Be aware it is a working vineyard and if you are unlucky as we were, you may be woken at 5:30am by farm machinery working in the vineyard right outside the bedroom window. Also at certain times of year bird scaring detonators maybe in operation during the day.
We had use of the mountain bikes and enjoyed cycling around the Lake and visited another winery. The bikes were in need of some maintenance but adequate for our needs.

Thank you for taking the time to review our Moodemere Lake House. We're delighted you enjoyed your lunch in the Lakeside Restaurant. The menu is specifically designed to showcase our Single Vineyard wines, so we're particularly pleased to know you enjoyed the wine and food pairing. Our small team take pride in their endeavour to provide the best possible experience, and we're always pleased to pass on positive feedback about their service.
The bike riding in our region is beautiful, with the opportunity to visit lots of interesting wineries and landmarks. We're so glad you enjoyed it. We have two brand new mountain bikes, serviced regularly. Our third bike is a little older and only used if our guests are under a certain height. You did have the use of the older bike, which is not as technically equipped as the new bikes, but still serviced regularly. Thank you for letting us know it needed some maintenance. We've given it an additional service and believe it's in good working order.
We’re sorry you were disturbed by the sound of harvesting. Our Lake House is located between the single vineyard, from which we source all our fruit for wine production, and the Lake Moodemere State Reserve. We schedule about five harvesting mornings over three months. Harvesting of grapes is a delicate science. We respond quickly to indicators, sometimes picking the morning after testing. Upon checking in, our vigneron did inform you we would be picking in the morning. We have found your feedback helpful and responded by amending our advertised information with more specific information regarding the potential affect of positioning alongside a working vineyard. It is hoped the additional information will assist to avoid any future unforeseen disturbance.

Lovely wines with matching outlook over the lake. The food was full of flavour and delicious quality, highly recommend a visit to this winery. Plenty of room on the property for kids to run around and have a shot at hole in one golf to keep them entertained (including adults)

We had their chef's menu lunch at the Estate with out two dogs. The food was wonderful. Our lunch lasted 3 hrs! The only dish we didn't enjoy was the desert which was far too sweet for our liking.
We didn't end up doing a tasting here, as the Riesling and Shiraz Cabernet we order for lunch were shadows of the wine we tasted (and bought) at Warrabilla Wines down the road just prior to the lunch.
A couple of things to keep in mind if you were to bring dogs to the estate.
- They have three lovely dogs (Two Collies and one Lab) on site, who love to come over and get pets.
- They have chickens that freely roam the property.

Our wonderful wine journey today started with a wine tasting and then lunch.
Whilst their are not a huge variety of wines to taste, the wines available are superb.
Our hosts Michael and Belinda made us feel very welcome and shared with us the history of the estate. Their passion, reflects in the wines, the estate and the atmosphere they have created.
Lunch equalled the wines. Fantastic. Most ingredients are sourced from the estate.

We had lunch at Lake Moodemere today (New Years Day). The total experience was sublime. A great tasting at the start from Michael and then lunch a huge hit. Not a huge menu and not huge portions but everything was done extremely well! The duck fat potatoes were a standout! Staff lead by Belinda were very attentive. Would definitely go again

Called in for some wine tasting with my son, and his girlfriend. A lovely setting and a great dining/function room. There is also dinning outside on the veranda in the warmer weather. The outside grounds are very well kept, and the views while dining outside are magnificent.
Tried a variety of wines an explanation of them all given by the owner at a table. You can also purchase a cheese, fruit and meat platter to help with your wine tasting.
If you are going to call in and plan to stay for lunch, I strongly suggest you book in advance.
