We were enthusiastically greeted as we got out of our car by a gorgeous kelpie pup and a beautiful Labrador.
The warm welcome was continued inside by the owner and chief winemaker as well as his wife who stopped in and his son Harry. We were given a guided tasting of all the available wines and it was wonderful to chat about the wine making process and the story behind each wine.

We had a regional platter for lunch and ate it outside in the seating area. It was a bit cold and overcast but we can see how we will be making this winery a regular stop for us in the future, particularly in the warmer months!

We ended up buying a few bottles of wine which we will enjoy until our next visit!

One of our favourites of the Rutherglen region. This was our third visit and Ross always looks after us. The wines are unique and full of flavour. We enjoy sitting outside relaxing with the amazing view enjoying a bottle with the awesome cheese plate.

Lovely setting for a winery, unfortunately it was a very hot day and as the wine tasting shed is not air conditioned it was very uncomfortable. Spoke to the owner who was very knowledgeable and tasted some great wines. Met Ruth the dog, bought some wine and he didn’t charge us a tasting fee - much appreciated.

Drove 12 kms from Rutherglen after visiting wineries at about 2.30pm on Sunday. Only had one day in area. Very untidy unwelcome site. No indication as to where to park. Signs visible were “Private - no entry. Nobody in sight, no activity, only barking dogs. What a waste of time!!!!

First time at this winery for the Rutherglen Wine Festival. What an absolute gem of a place every member of the family made it their mission to welcome us and have a chat and make sure we were enjoying and had everything we needed. A beautiful place to have a wedding as well. Been doing the wine festival for over 10 years now and this place is top of our lost now. Can’t wait to see you all again at Olive Hill.

We read the lovely article in the local pepper about the winery and booked a table . Could not believe that we hadn’t discovered it earlier. Not a wine at tasting that we didn’t enjoy and more. The grazing platter and pizza were excellent and the ambience, beyond our dreams. Life is good!! We have booed a table for next weekend for our family. Don’t miss out on this quintessential north east experience

The historic homestead, built in 1886, is at the heart of Olive Hills Estate. The Perry family has restred the estate, with love and energy. To accompany their wines, the Perry family serves piping hot pizzas, straight from the oven, and delicious grazing platters.. It's also a great place for functions, including weddings.

As a "rustic" funtion center this was a huge disappointment.
I attended a wedding ceremony/reception and thought the facilities were below average.
Ceremony - uneven slashed grass, carpet for the aisle looked like it was an old hallway carpet from the house.
Function Center - unused tables stacked at side of the room, chandeliers had several missing globes, farm cats running through the function, dirty lounge chairs-my light coloured pants have large dirt marks, the room got cold and not all the out door heaters worked, extremely dissappointed.

We are terribly disappointed and disillusioned by your review. Olive Hills Estate winery is a heritage listed mansion and winery in the beautiful Rutherglen region. The heritage listed 1886 winery building was renovated and restored to accommodate our "rustic" cellar door operation. During the wedding season, Olive Hills Estate is utilised as a wedding ceremony and reception centre. To respond to your critical comments; (a) uneven slashed grass... Olive Hills is a working vineyard and farm situated on 500 acres. The majority of the designated "wedding area" was beautifully mowed and slashed. (b) carpet from the house... yes, the original and authentic early 1900's carpet runner from the 1886 Olive Hills mansion was used as the wedding runner. (c) unused tables in the winery... as a cocktail wedding reception, none of the tables were required to be used for the evening. We decided to offer a number of tables and chairs for the quests to use for the evening and the bridal party were delighted with our decision. (d) several missing globes.... their are three very large chandeliers hanging in the winery which hold a total of 48 globes. On inspection the next morning, we identified ONE of the forty eight not present! (e) the couches being dirty... the couches were all steam cleaned the week prior to the wedding. Maybe you accidentally soiled your light colored pants on the canapes served throughout the evening. (f) farm cats roaming in the winery... we have one cat, which normally keeps an eye on the winery. The cat did sneek in later in the evening and I'm sure you can recall that the cat was quickly retrieved and placed outside. (g) outdoor heaters not working.... yes, they are outside heaters which we kindly rolled inside for a number of the quests to use as the evening became quiet cool. And we distinctly remember, your husband and yourself, who sat on your own all evening at the rear of the building, were the first to ask for a heater! And yours did work. Unfortunately the fourth heater had a malfunction and did not work. The heaters are not normally utilised inside and were not planned to be used on the evening. Hopefully, we have responded adequately to your hurtful and extremely critical comments and we would like to conclude my mentioning that we were offered superb compliments from the bridal party and many other quests at the wedding you attended.

A small winery with few wines compared to many in the area. Our opinion, Olive Hills had the best Durif we tried in all of Rutherglen. Wonderful owner and host.

Huge old rustic tin shed lined with barrels. Had some delicious wines and a nice chat with the winemaker, and bought some wines. We were happy we stumbled across this piece of history.
