We visited this winery while on holiday to Victoria and with friends from Sydney who knew of it. I had wanted to visit as an old friend we had stayed with the days before in Lockwood, had treated us to a 2004 Durrif from this winery and we were blown away by the experience. We were there at a quiet time and Andrew came around with his coffee and sat on a barrel chatting with us and leading us through some tastings. Frankly, all the wines I tasted are delightful but I suppose from my limited tasting I was inclined to like the Durrif most. Sadly, flying home to Scotland economy class meant we could only take a few bottles. We opened a Durrif at a recent family meal and everyone who tasted it was very impressed. We have two Cab Sav left for another special. We were very sad to hear that this year's vintage might be harmed by the smoke from the terrible bush fires disaster but I guess there is always another year and worse has happened. A big thank you to Andrew for his warm welcome and making us feel like friends.

What a glowing report card- thank you so very much for your kind words!
You'll have to pass on our thanks to your friends for introducing you to our wines. We hope that they remain equally as impressive to those lucky enough to share a bottle with you back in Scotland.
Andrew is very generous with his time and, with coffee in hand, is happy to show groups such as your selves through the cellar and explain his processes.
The bush fires and ensuing smoke have been a plague on our year thus far however we have been conducting analyses and small batch fermentation trials to assess the extent of its impact. While we always do our best to remain optimistic, we can ensure all of our loyal followers that if we aren't happy with any wines we produce, they will simply not be released to the public. We have adequate stocks of back vintage wines that will ensure that nobody goes thirsty in the interim and look forward to vintage 2021!

Warrabilla Wines makes red wines of epic proportions, among the best in the historic Rutherglen region, which is well known for its muscular reds. The main red grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Durif To round out their offering, Warrabilla grow the classic white varieties Marsanne, Riesling and Chardonnay. Following in the Rutherglen tradition, Warrabilla makes luscious sweet dessert wines, including Vintage Port, Tawney Port and a superb Muscat. Warrabilla Wines are not widely available in retail outlets, so call in to the cellar door if you are in the Rutherglen region and try some of these distinctive wines.

Great local vibe with direct access to the winemaker. Fabulous wines - highly recommend the Shiraz and Durif. Bear the dog an added bonus if you’re up for attention and providing a pat! A wonderful welcoming place.

Warrabilla Wines is also a more traditional style cellar door in a tin shed. Friendly informative staff who made us welcome and gave us a wide variety of wines etc available for tasting.
The wines were good but the Muscat and port were very much to my taste and we bought more here to add to the others for the 5 previous cellar doors.
Rutherglen is easy to navigate to a large number of wineries in a narrow geographical area. Much easier that the Hunter or Barrossa were you drive much greater distances. Few places as well so more manageable as a sole tour over two days.

Friendly, patient people who presented a great tasting. Better still there was a good range of tables wines and of course Rutherglen's famous muscat and muscadelle wines. I have been visitng regularly for some years and always have received a great welcome. Worht visitng even if a little (20km) out from the town centre. of course not so far for the wineries west of thw town. ake time and plan a circuit. (as with all the wineries I visited there was no charge for tasting)

Thank you for taking the time to review us, Malcolm. Your positive feedback makes all the difference in helping other visitors to the region seek us out and experience our offering for themselves. We are a little further from town as you mentioned, but the 13 minute drive from Rutherglen is always well-rewarded by our friendly staff and tasting experience. We hope you enjoy your travels and visit us again the next time you're in Rutherglen.

We booked in for an 11 am tasting with friends. The attentiveness of the staff was excellent, explaining manya of the fine points that added to the experience. We had the option of tasting 8 different ones, of which three were swallowed and resulted in treats of the same upon return to home. Great fun.

We spent a nice morning with Amy, tasting a generous full flight of wines of Warrabilla.
First time tasting Durif and we are glad we made the trip! The wines are superb! They are full bodied and well balanced. Not forgetting the muscat too!
Its a pity they do not ship to Singapore, hence we bought 12 bottles at one go as we know we will not be able to get them anywhere else.
Definitely worth while to make a trip and we hope to be back again!

Enjoyed Warrabilla's long lunch on 30 August 2014 - eleven courses and 27 wines!! While the Durif, shiraz & cab sav have no equal in Rutherglen for big (16 to 17.5% alcohol) + balance combination, both the riesling and marsanne were also very respectable. A must visit winery in the Rutherglen region. Winemaker Andrew and crew are to be congratulated for putting on a great absolute value for money event that was very enjoyable.

Like your reds big in flavour, head here! My first exposure to a 'monster red' - their Parola Durif. Incredibly intense flavour, nose, colour. My first ever bottle was a gift I swore was $80+ but was amazed and delighted to know you can get this quality of wine for less than half that. Entry level wines are equally impressive, and their Marsanne is a must-try too. Amazing depth of flavour but still true to what we expect in this wine more generally.

Great, small winery. The Durif was supposedly excellent, not a Durif drinker myself but one of the others loved it. The 2006 Vintage port , however, was truly excellent and the owner was amzing. It is about 15 Kms out of Rutherglen but well worth a visit. If coming from Yarrawonga, callin on the way to Rutherglen.
