If you want to feel like 'à la maison' (at home ) and enjoy a relaxing atmosphere, head to this boutique winery, in Red Hill.
Mont Rouge means 'Red Hill' in French and was previously called Darling Park.
The 4 acre vineyard consists of Pinot noir, Pino Gris and Chardonnay and has 30 years of history.
I tasted the 2018 Pinot noir with strawberry flavours, not too light, not too strong and perfect to go along with my lunch.Gourmet Barbecue lunch on weekends and public holidays with generous options of meat for $25 .Tasting for a reasonable $5.
Nice and cosy atmosphere with 2 welcoming hosts, Brendon and Jenny.
This is what you call a hidden gem.

Absolutely loved our visit to picturesque Mont Rouge Estate. The wines were absolutely amazing and we enjoyed the wine tasting vey much. Lunch was delicious! A delightful variety of flavours and beautifully presented. And the chocolates! Wow!! Such a great choice and finely crafted. The tasting session was soooo yummy! Add to that fabulous coffee and home made ice cream! It’s all at Mont Rouge. The staff are friendly and just lovely people. We purchased Christmas gifts and were very happy our whole experience. Thank you Mont Rouge. We’ll be recommending you and hope to return one day.

What's not to love at this unique, cosy and charming boutique winery?
Their wines are full of character, their hand made chocolates blended with extraordinary flavours of product from local growers are as individual and surprising as you'll ever find.

And it doesn't stop there because if you don't end your day with a dose of their special ice cream creations, you have missed out!

An extravaganza for the taste buds complemented by lovely, down to earth, real people that offers you that family welcoming feeling.

We've already booked in our next delectable lunch and looking forward to several celebrations to be shared with family and friends here.

This remarkable place will offer you a distinctive and special little journey.

Yum yum yum what more can I say how different how yummy this new menu they are offering is so different to anything else on the peninsula. Congratulations to the planner and the food served up would be as good as food at any top restaurant in Melbourne. I have no idea who the chef/cook is but it was an amazing dinning experience.

Today we visited Mont Rouge winery and were utterly delighted with what we found! High quality wine and the unpretentious and beautiful tapas style share plates were just lovely. Such a friendly, relaxed environment with excellent hosts, made for a wonderful place to spend the afternoon. We’ll be back for sure!

Took my husband here for a birthday lunch on the recommendation of my niece and her friends. We absolutely loved it! We were met at the door and taken in for wine tastings then sat down for a really gorgeous meal. The service was excellent! The food was just beautiful. After lunch we went to the chocolate factory, wow! Chocolate and ice cream tastings all made on site. We very highly recommend this gorgeous hidden gem and will be back as soon as we can!
PS. Wines are excellent

Located in leafy surroundings is this nice little wine cellar, chocolatier and cafe. They had a wonderful range of chocolates which they were happy to offer some samples and excellent coffee. A nice little stop for half an hour to an hour.

Booked in for a late lunch Sunday 12 March with a small group. We did the wine tasting first and then had the $39 set lunch. The wine tasted great and the food was delicious and it was plentiful. We then had the ice cream and coffee. Everything is locally sourced and produced and the staff were so friendly and helpful. I've been here a number of times and it never disappoints. Looking forward to my next visit.

We experienced their new winter menu beef cheeks, chicken cassoulet, meatballs, mashed potato, yummy pumpkin salad and delicious home made bread to soak up all the delectable juices. Then headed down to the chocolate factory for a coffee and chocolates no ice cream this time as it was too cold! As we have previously tried the homemade ice creams before. What a great little place this is and hopefully they continue to do really well in their new venture. It is extremely good value all round!

A beautiful setting for a relaxing lunch and glass of wine. Friendly, welcoming and attentive hosts who made the experience genuinely lovely. No pretence at Mont Rouge just delicious bbq lunch followed by dreamy ice cream and artisan chocolates. I may have also become a convert to a cheeky Mont Rouge Chardonnay too! 😉
Do yourself a favour and drop into Mont Rouge, you won’t be disappointed!
