Went to the Day Out With Thomas January 2022. We were left a bit disappointed. Train trip was a bit boring. Both the adults and other kids were bored. Needs more Thomas stuff. Perhaps on the train trip have a story playing over the speakers in the carriages and have things set up outside along the way that corresponds with the story being played so it’s more interesting and interactive for the kids to look at rather than overgrown bushes. Couldn’t even get close to Thomas for a nice photo. And instead of Thomas pulling trucks, should have Annie & Clarebelle so people travelling have shade/cover…

We thoroughly enjoyed stepping back in time to ride on the steam train. The volunteers do a great job. It was very authentic and fun to watch the engine being topped up with water at the turnaround.

A kid friendly place. Took the Swan Bay Express to Lakers Siding and back. About an hour in total. $16 for adults, kids were free. We've done puffing billy before, but found it to be too long. The Bellarine Railway was just the right amount of time to keep kids interested. You can go right up to the engine and watch it get re-watered and do shunting. Much 'freer' atmosphere than puffing billy. You can also walk around the station site and see more old engines and carriages. If you have a pram, look for the carriage with a wider door, else you'll have to disassemble it.…

Lovely day out with the family, I felt bad for the volunteer and some of the abuse he received from people, we managed to get the last 5 tickets for the 12pm train before it was sold out. The train ride along Swan bay was wonderful as the kids got to see some wildlife along the way. Big thanks to all the volunteers and to the booking officer who was working flat out to try and accommodate everyone.…

Today I don’t think the staff were prepared for the numbers that turned up - even though this is a ticketed event!! We understand that queuing is inevitable but young children out in the sun and trying to stand still is not something that goes too well. It felt as if some decisions were made on the fly, with the short Thomas ride being moved. Announcements were made, then changed and all the while small children were getting more restless. However once on the train the kids loved it. The scenery was lovely and the old train carriages were beautifully maintained. Between rides all seats were wiped down to comply with COVID rules. More shade on these brutally warm and sunny days is needed a must especially when trying to socially distance. …
