About
The spectacular 40-minute trip on the Queenscliff Sorrento Ferry Service links Melbourne’s most magnificent coastal regions: the Bellarine Peninsula and Mornington Peninsula. Both destinations have a vast number of attractions to explore. Then, from Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula, it’s a leisurely 2-hour scenic drive to Phillip Island and the famous Penguin Parade. From Queenscliff on the Bellarine Peninsula, you’re very close to the glorious Great Ocean Road.Stroll on board as a passenger or bring your car – it’s the fast convenient alternative to the drive of more than 200 km through the city from one peninsula to the other. All weather, hourly crossings, 7 Days…Two specially designed all-weather 60-metre ferries depart from both destinations on the hour, every hour, 7am to 6pm daily. Enjoy easy drive on/drive off facilities, spacious comfortable lounges with full-length windows, a tempting cafe and plenty of deck space. Spot dolphins all year, glide by spectacular coastline.

Relax and let someone else drive - Look a Dolphin!
Mar. 2021
Visiting Geelong yesterday we were not sure if we would take the ferry back or drive back around through Melbourne. While in Queenscliff we decided on the Ferry and were pleasantly surprised when we were able to drive up at 2:45pm and get on the 3pm departure. We thought we would be buying a ticket for the 4pm departure and waiting....
The process was really easy.
Once on board there are 3 seating areas, tables & chairs, lounges and a 'coffee table' area. Or you can go outside.
Relaxed saw some dolphins, a really nice ride.
Staff are great and give clear directions on what to do and where to go.

Thank you for the great review. So glad you enjoyed the crossing and the ease of the experience. It sure beats the 3 hour drive around through city traffic and on tolls roads. Always good to see dolphins playing beside the ferry. Hope to drive you across the bay again soon!' Warm regards, Leanne

Nice experience
Feb. 2021 • Couples
Jumped on the ferry from Sorrento to Queenscliff for a quick trip to Geelong.

Premium price at $80 for a car and 2 people but for a once off experience, that’s probably ok.

Very clean inside and out on the deck and very professionally run from the ticket booth to the crew. Couple that with fresh sea air and great scenery along the voyage and we had a very pleasant journey 😊

Thanks xb4315 for the lovely review. The crossing is a great alternative to the drive around to get from one side of the bay to the other. More doing, less time driving! The scenery is beautiful and nothing better than fresh sea air. Hope to see you back onboard again soon. Warmest regards, Leanne

Great service so easy to use
Dec. 2020
Much faster than driving from home to queenscliff. Arrived early as the previous ferry was loading and they allowed us to board which was great.
Picked up return ticket when checked in.
Very comfortable journey day to drive on & off
Definitely recommend
Noticed quite a few pedestrians using the ferry as well
Plenty of parking both sides of the journey
Have fun!

Ferry trip
Ferry trip was good kids loved it..
Had trouble with the tickets as it wasn't showing up on their computer when we got them through trip advisor so took a good 20 minutes to get sorted..luckly we arrived quiet early but a bit annoying.

Thank you lorraineblackaby for your review. Great that the kids loved the ferry crossing. The ticket issue has been addressed with trip advisor and is under investigation as to why we did not receive the booking. This is definitely not the normal process for pre purchased tickets and we apologise for any inconvenience. Hope to see you onboard again soon. Warm regards, Leanne

Visited on Saturday 15th February. We arrived by ferry from Sorento, this is a great way to cross from one side of Port Phillip Bay to the other. The crossing was good and the staff very helpful.

The only way to travel to Queenscliff from the Mornington Peninsular
Mar. 2020
We have used the ferry on numerous occasions and whilst it is not cheap for such a short voyage it is certainly worth the savings in time, fuel and angst that can result from the road trip.

Did return trip from Sorrento to Queenscliff. Amazing to watch how they unload and reload the entire ferry within 15 minutes. Plenty of seating onboarding and great big viewing windows. Nice smooth sailing with great views. Good facalities on board.

Thank you Phillip for your wonderful review. Our crew do an amazing job loading and unloading in the short turn around time. In busy periods, loading vehicles is like putting a jigsaw together to try and load vehicles of various lengths, heights and widths. We are glad you enjoyed the crossing and hope to see you onboard again soon. Regards, Leanne

A great trip across Port Philip Bay
Feb. 2020
We were probably lucky with the weather, crossing the Bay on a fine, smooth day. The ferry trip is very comfortable and efficient, and the view over the bay is quite spectacular. The Searoad Ferry leaves each side, from Queenscliff and Sorrento, exactly on the hour, so is easy to plan for.

Thank you raintree53 for the great review. The sailing is pretty smooth most times of the year as we sail inside the Bay not in open sea. And we agree, the views are pretty special. Hope to see you onboard again soon. Regards, Leanne

High tea on the ferry
Feb. 2020 • Friends
What a delightful way to spend a sunny afternoon. A lovely high tea with loads of delights and a glass of bubbly. My daughter and I had a very relaxing couple of hours on the ferry from Queenscliff to Sorrento return, enjoying the high tea. Quite delightful and I thought reasonably priced. Plenty to eat and could bring a box of leftovers home (husband quite pleased about that!)

Thank you alimelb for the wonderful review on our onboard food and wine experience - High Tea on the High Seas. Our chef does an amazing job with the delicious, and plentiful food offering, using local produce in tasty bite size pieces. Of course no high tea is complete without traditional scones, jam and cream! Hopefully we may see you try one of our other food offerings such as Brunch or Captains Lunch. Or look out for a few of our new themed high teas such as chocolate/Easter in April, Mothers May with bottomless sparkling wine and Gin High Tea in September. Warm regards, Leanne
