Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After eating here recently, it was interesting to discover a review from April 2023 where the diners’ experiences were similar.
My order came out around 10 minutes after my husband’s, (there were only the two of us at the table), and though the waitress commented it was busy, it was after 1.30pm on a weekday and less than half full.
Besides, being busy might explain a delay - we had already been waiting quite a while - but not the lack of coordination. Meals arriving at the same time is a basic standard of service expected at good restaurants and from the 2023 review, this is something that still needs correction.
However, the views were lovely, the weather fine and we enjoyed the cider/beer paddle.
Our meals though, weren't as impressive. My husband found the flavour of the meatball sauce “odd” and while it may just not have been to his taste, as a chef he enjoys a wide range of food and thought the mix of flavours didn’t suit the dish.
My $24 “meal” was a bowl of 4 steamed dumplings, each about the size of a Chinese dim sim. Though full of meat, the flavour was rather bland, though enhanced by soy sauce. I’d requested no chilli, so as the sauce on the menu was apparently rather spicy, soy sauce was a better option. I expressed surprise to the waitress that there wasn’t even a garnish on the dish and from her comment, it seemed changing the sauce somehow changed the presentation of the dish. She did bring back a small bowl - a little larger than the one the soy sauce was in - with some coriander leaves, along with a few slivers of spring onion and capsicum. Not the presentation expected from a well regarded restaurant, as just a few lettuce leaves and little more salad would’ve been all that was needed to turn this into a meal rather than a large entree.
Even though the meatballs weren’t to my husband’s taste, they were presented very well, along with accompanying toast, which he enjoyed.
The service was friendly and the desserts looked appealing, but at $15 each and after the less than stellar mains, we decided not to risk more disappointment.

Spent an absolutely beautiful afternoon with friends on a rainy Friday afternoon. Recommend the tasting plate complete with salami and duck patte, washed down with Pale Ale and a brilliant Shiraz. Special thanks to Pep and the legend Col.

We were after food having been sight seeing and I called ahead as it was 1:30pm. The fabulous lady who answered the phone said no rush- it is a cruisey afternoon. She was rich and remembered me when we arrived. For a mid-week day lunch with patchy weather there were a lot of lunchers! The menu was great especially for the vegetarian amongst us and we all really enjoyed the vegan board. The local vegan cheese and warm
olives were delicious. The other highlight was the Korean chicken bau buns-yummy. I had a couple of beverages local of course. The sparkling & rosé fabulous ( hence I bought 6 bottles). Highly highly recommend.

Our visit to Pomonal for lunch was strange. It was busy so we could have excused a little inefficiency, but the mismatch of food delivery times we had was seriously annoying. We had one table of six people but two separate orders, that were put in at the counter within one minute of each other, arrived more than ten minutes apart (and still only half the second order arrived to start with….) so all the first dishes were cold by the time we ate, since we politely waited for the others in our group to be served. The food itself ‘filled stomachs’ and was ‘fine’ but didnt prompt anyone at the table to verbally offer any enthusiasm at all about what they were consuming!! The menu has the strangest options - and no particular style; just a hot potch! Really it’s a choice from several platters or one of three items that they describe as ‘a little more substantial’, but certainly the empanadas and the bao buns were not ‘substantial’ enough to warrant the price!

Great place, modern building, fabulously welcoming staff - we had the wine tasting and chocolate tastings, as well as enjoyed the mulled ginger beer on a nice cool day. We got to explore the grounds an say hello to the sheep. It's just a joyful place! Can't recommend it enough!

Cosy winery, larger and more open inside than we expected. Well decked out with a mix of local and repurposed materials. We started off with the tasting flight which helped decide the accompanying wine to go with lunch. The staff were warm and friendly and explained the wines and menu in detail. We settled on a light lunch - roast pumpkin salad with added chicken and the bruschetta. A very enjoyable light lunch in a lovely setting served by hospitable staff. Give it a try.

We stayed at their accommodation and it’s been THE BEST STAY EVER we have had in our 2 weeks of travels in Australia. They were very accommodative and kind and the place was perfect .

Their cafe too was wonderful, with personal touches from everyone , including having a wonderful chocolate and wine paddle and another for beer . And they were activities too for little children to go out tot he fields to play. Do pay this place a visit !

Saw that they had a cellar door, so was hoping to pick up some takeaway. However, we were not greeted at the door nor asked if we need assistance, so we were not sure if they had tastings nor the pricing for takeaways. As a result, we left empty handed. The place was quite active and seemed a nice venue for a meal, but not geared towards cellar door sales.

We stopped in here for lunch & wine tasting during the school holidays. It was busy, we recommend booking ahead. The food was amazing, fresh, healthy & vibrant! Loved the paddle board wine tasting experience. Service was great too. Highly recommend to visit here if you are in the Grampians.
