Riviera Nautic has set their charter service up to really cater for their clients’ needs. They allow you to stay on the boat the night before and having a late 3pm checkout. Fuel is included in the price. They provide detailed training videos you can view before you arrive, have a “where is it sheet” to familiarize yourself with the boat when you do arrive and have an in-person induction which covers basic boat handling. There is documentation on board of where the best moorings are in particular wind directions and other boat handling information. They were incredibly easy to deal with; very organized, always friendly and never officious. They were available on the phone throughout the day and provide a Lakes wide support service if you do get into trouble. All this means that you don’t need a boat licence to charter their boats.

We do have boat licences and sail in Port Phillip Bay on a smaller yacht but this was our first time ever chartering. We found all the information supplied by Riviera Nautic very useful and picked up some new techniques from their training. We did bring our own electronic charts but found that the Lakes are well signposted and Riviera Nautic’s chart quite useful. We also chose to bring our own more comfortable life jackets even though there were life jackets supplied.

The Catalina 320 we charted for a week was comfortably fitted out and can fit 7 people. Despite the Catalina being a bigger boat, she was easy to handle with just two people and has a very tight turning circle. The fridge is enormous! The kitchen is easy to use, the electrics worked well and the cabin was spacious. Riviera Nautic used to supply bed linen at an extra cost but because of COVID this service has been suspended and we supplied our own. Do remember to bring a 12 volt car charger for charging electronics – one which has two charging slots might be useful.

We were on the Lakes late February to early March. The weather was mostly sunny but we experienced quite strong SE winds. In Port Phillip Bay these winds would have made for rough sailing but in the Gippsland Lakes the waves were never unpleasant. We learnt that the northern parts of the Lakes are less windy and that Raymond Island is a perfect port for SE winds. We were able to sail and motor as far north, south, east and west as we could and stayed at Metung, Duck Arm, Raymond Island near the ferry (we would just hop over on the ferry to Paynesville for the restaurants and shops), Paynesville and Hollands Landing and visited the Tambo River and the Bunga Arm region, all without really hurrying. There is still a bit more to see so we look forward to coming back and chartering again.

On behalf of my entire group, I would like to extend our greatest appreciation to Riviera Nautic for helping us with our little getaway last weekend.

Both families in our booking had an outstanding time using the Crusader, jetting around to some different areas on the lake to enjoy some fun watersports. We did everything from kayaking, paddleboarding, jumping off piers and the boat, fishing, swimming and just chillaxing on the beaches and on the top deck of the boat.

Your friendly and professional team delivered an excellent service from start to finish. The wonderful communication leading up to the event made it easy to plan and address our questions and the support and guidance throughout the briefing and whilst away on the trip was fantastic.

We have recommended your company to a number of our friends and we would happily re-book with you again in future.

Again, thank you all for making our getaway so memorable and enjoyable.
Tania.

The 6 of us from Tassie enjoyed a fantastic holiday on Chivas Regal. We were entranced by the abundant bird life and loved the tranquility of being on the water. Highlights were Duck Arm and Tambo River. We hired an 8 seater car from Melbourne which made our journey to Metung hassle free. Communication with Riviera Nautic was excellent. Thoroughly recommend. Will book again for a family trip.

We hired the Crusader from Rivera Nautic - there were six of us on board every night for a week. We just loved this experience - so much more than a holiday! Every one of us enjoyed it, we ate great food, saw stunning scenery, got to more in the centre of town (Paynesville) and had a brilliant time. We loved that we learnt new things like driving and mooring a boat, navigating, and using a compass! Riviera Nautic provided fantastic support and information, and we loved watching Cam's videos.
Imagine how we felt when we beach-moored at Barrier Landing, put on our bathers and jumped off the back of the boat in to pristine water....we all agreed it was like paradise.
Thank you Riviera Nautic, we can't wait to do it again.

Absolutely brilliant. My family and I have done this a few times now, and it never disappoints. It's especially great for a long weekend away because you can stay in the boat, which is fully self-contained, so you only have to unpack once. The only criticism I have is that, living in Western Victoria, it's a bit of a drive - if only they could move the Gippsland Lakes a bit closer!

Nice helpful staff and easy process to take out a little boat. No boating license needed for small boat. The boats are getting a little old and worn, but worked fine.

We hired a day boat for 2 hours today. Pottered around Bancroft Bay, stopped for some cheese and crackers. Saw a sea eagle. The boat was very adequate and reasonably priced.
Staff very helpful.

Another adventure crossed-off our bucket list thanks to the wonderful people at Riviera Nautic. While LeTrec may be getting a little long in the tooth, so were we but the orientation and support of the people at RN had us 'sailing' like pro's in no time. However the weather did NOT play ball! We hired a 34 foot cabin cruiser which was a handfull for just TWO people and would no doubt be better suited to 4 adults. The sleeping quarters were fine and the boat itself did everything asked of it. It was just the operators... We had 4 days on the lakes and ended up wanting more. We visited the serene Duck Bay and wild Hollands Landing. In between there were some great experiences and now - wonderful memories. The staff at RN were most supportive and positive. Go ahead... book today. You know you want to...

While stepping onto a boat for the first time since 1988 was a touch nerve wracking, the boys at Nautic could not have made it easier ... even after I made my best attempt to crash the boat in the first 30 seconds !!!! Navigating and steering takes full concentration, but as a virtual novice if you listen to and follow instructions given before leaving dock, you can get through it. The tricky part is docking, otherwise known as crash landing, but we scraped through. The trip to Barrier Point and walking our picnic thru to 90 mile beach ... superb. I could not praise this company highly enough... thanks fellas. We had a blast.

We hired a boat here yesterday for a return trip to Barrier Landing. Jeremy and Cam were both very helpful (and patient) with all our initial questions about which boat to book and for how long. We hired the ‘Endurance’ for four hours which was ideal. As novice boaties Greg helped us get started and we were also assisted with docking at the pier on our return. The trip to Barrier Landing took about an hour and three quarters with various short detours on the way. The return trip took about an hour and a quarter. Very happy with the advice, service and our boat. Day boat hire was the right way to go for us.
