We visited on a beautiful January day. A lovely drive, windy , and would need to take care in winter. Some great views and vegetation, however not many spots to stop and enjoy enroute, so great for the passenger but the driver needed to concentrate on the windy road!. Would recommend.

Lady Talbot is an interesting drive starting a short distance east of Marysville. The first part, incorporating a number of waterfall trails, can be accessed by 2wd vehicles. However, after Keppel Falls, access is restricted to 4WD vehicles. It's not demanding being well graded but there are some mild rocky sections and we came across 2 trees across the road. No part of the road required us to go into low-range 4WD. The walks to Phantom Falls and Keppel Falls are relatively easy. The longest was Keppel Falls, 2km return, that took us about 50 minutes including viewing time at the Falls. The walks to Taggerty Cascades and Meeting of the Waters are steep with many steps. We drove no further as it was getting late in the day and the quickest way out for us was to retrace our route. But I believe you can continue all the way to Cathedral Range State Park. While there are a lot of dead trees as reminders of the 2009 bushfires, the regrowth is strong and the scenery is well worth the drive.

Marysville is an easy day trip from Melbourne and the Lady Talbot Drive is a must do side trip when you’re there. Not far from the town, beautiful easy walks to waterfalls, picnic spots by the river and simply a beautiful side trip in spectacular countryside. A drive not to be missed.

A great drive on a sunny day. Several places to stop along the way for a picnic or walks to falls. We walked to Phantom Falls, about 500 mths and Keppel falls, around 700 mths. We were in a 4x4 but saw many in standard cars. The road is gravel and not very wide and it is not for speeding along. It can be slippery after rain, and there are several gates that maybe closed in the winter due to landslips. It follows the Taggerty river in some areas, and this can provide some fishing opportunities for the keen fisher person.

Prior to the 2009 fires that decimated the area this used to be such a pretty drive. Now it has been transformed into a regrowth phase - the huge number of grey/black dead trees along the road and in the distance does not provide a good feel. Bad carma. There is many signs that the drive and surrounds have been left with little maintenance evident. The only saving point is the Tagerty River (still lovely is spots) albeit loaded with dead fallen trees which takes away from it's otherwise ambience. The road is closed beyond Keppel Falls due to dangers of falling trees etc. Picnic areas are now few as is access to the river. The whole experience was one one of sadness really remembering how special this drive used to be - as it was we only encountered x1 other vehicle on our drive and that was parked at Keppel Falls. Says it all really. Plenty of other great things to see in Marysville.

Lovely road to drive along even if it is unsealed.

A number of points of interest along the drive including some waterfalls. Our favourite spot was the cascades. Not many picnic spots if any at all along route which would improve attraction

Excellent round trip from Marysville. Great views of the new vegetation growing up between the trees killed in the dreadful 2008 fires. Bumpy in places!

This drive goes next to the Taggerty River, through bush which has recovered from the fires and into sections which haven't - which are fascinating. Check with the Information Centre first to see how much of the Drive is open - especially go the Beeches Walk and Cascades, and Phantom Falls, if the road is open. Unmade road, but easy driving.
