About
The Ritchie Family are excited to share their new cellar door and dining room. They have been farming at the base of the Victorian High Country for over 140 years. Over 50 years ago, Vivienne and Robert Ritchie established the Delatite Winery. Their son, David Ritchie now runs the winery. The new cellar door will allow you to have a relaxed tasting while sitting around a fire taking in the views. Locally sourced food and produce is at the centre of our seasonal menu. In summer you can spill out onto our deck, lawn and outside tables while sipping on a delicious glass of wine It is rated amongst the top 3% of wineries in Australia and has been rated five red star winery by James Halliday since 2009.

Beautiful location and friendly staff, but overall a disappointment. Very limited menu and although, as many staff as guests, we had to order via QR code which really let us down. It did not respond to our queries as one of the staff would have done. Eg share plate only had 3 items but we were a party of 4.

Food, although quite good, arrived at different times. Several of tables were so rickety we would have spilt our drinks so had to move.

Hope they can lift their game.

A beautiful location with stunning views. We booked (recommend you book) to dine inside. The menu is small but the food is excellent. We had a shared charcuterie board with some Delatite Sparkling rise….excellent.
The staff are extremely welcoming and the service was fantastic.
We loved to the patio for desert and just admired the open fields.
We did not do any wine tasting but I am told the wines are great.
Would definitely visit any time you are in the area.

Midweek wine tasting in comfort with informed staff. The lunch offered small and large sharing plates.
We enjoyed an authentic pumpkin curry with all the traditional trimmings and a side order of char grilled seasonal greens. All delicious.

Have visited twice on a Monday over the past month. Absolutely magnificent views looking out over the vineyards towards Mt Bulla, Stirling and Timbertop. Excellent riesling accompanied by freshly baked focaccia bread with olive oil, balsamic and dukkah.
Staff were very friendly and happily talked with us about the wines and the winery itself.
Easy to spend an afternoon. Wish I had a driver!

Delatite Delights is a wine tasting experience matched with small “bites”. Of the 5 wines we sampled, I found the 2022 Estate ‘Pet Nat’ the most interesting and different from other, perhaps more traditional, wines. The artisan bread and dukkah was a good way to start the tasting and all the other bites were delicious too. I would recommend the Delights as a pleasant way to try out some of the many wines that Delatite has on offer. However, some may find the price, at $60 pp, a bit high.

5/5 fabulous festival celebrating the end of the grape harvest. The wild fire feast was incredible on Friday night. Saturday morning beekeeping workshop followed by best spaghetti vongole on the planet in Delatite restaurant. Beautifully organised in the most magnificent location overlooking Mt Buller.

We were recently in Australia and met family for lunch and some wine at this wonderful place. I loved the atmosphere and the view outside. My cousin and I shared the Spaghetti con Vongole and it was the best I have ever had (being Italian I am always hesitant to order Italian food at a restaurant). I think we soaked up every drop of sauce with our bread. My husband had the Troat and he said it was amazing. The wines were very nice and we could have spent all afternoon on the patio enjoying the wines. I wish we didn't live so far away as I would love to return there again and again.

We enjoyed a lovely relaxed lunch here. We have a family member with an allergy and I called ahead regarding this and they were extremely accomodating and pleasant to deal with.
On the day, they were busy and the floor staff were friendly and helpful with ordering and overall service.
The stand-out dishes for us were the pork knuckle and burrata.
We’d seen some reviews about service which were concerning but I’m honestly not sure what that could have been about given our great experience.

Hi, Thank you for your lovely review! It's great to hear we were able to accommodate your family members food allergy and that you thought the service was good. The pork knuckle has quickly become a favourite for our guests, it might even become one of our signature dishes! We hope you visit us again soon. Kind regards, Polly Ritchie

It would be no stars if that was an option as we were turned away. We were two couples looking forward to a having a few bottles of wine overlooking the surrounding landscapes and possibly purchasing hundreds of dollars worth of wines when we left. Instead were told we could not even buy a bottle of wine at the bar and sit at the many empty tables available. What a crazy way to run a business. A real shame as we had travelled over 30 minutes to enjoy a few hours at their winery and spend hundreds of dollars.

Hi, I'm sorry we weren't able to serve you when you visited us in early January. The two weeks after Christmas is our busiest time and over that time we had some people who said they would work pull out at the last minute. Our policy is to always ensure the people who have booked and are being served have the best possible experience. As a result we sometimes limit the amount of people who can dine, drink and have tastings and encourage people to always book before coming. We understand the disappointment, especially as we are 10 minutes out of town and at the end of a long dirt road. We hope you give us another chance and if so, encourage you to make a booking before you come. Kind regards, Polly Ritchie
