Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A group of wonderful friends combined their money to give my husband a voucher for a helicopter ride with Alpine Helicopter Charter for his 50th birthday and last Saturday was the day! Wow what can l say. Neither my husband or l had ever been in a helicopter and l have to admit l was feeling pretty anxious with all kinds of thoughts of doom! How wrong l was! First of all David the pilot was such a lovely, calm and very informative man. He certainly made us feel very much at ease. There are various flights and prices available on the website and the flight we chose was a 1 hour 40 minute flight with a stopover on the Howqua River at Fry's Hut with an afternoon tea of the best tasting hot chocolate for me, coffee for my husband and the freshest apple and blueberry muffins. David made sure our entire trip from the very start was captured by offering to take lots of memorable photos. We were both amazed at how smooth the ride was with not one moment of fear or panic felt, in fact it was one of the most enjoyable things we have ever experienced and will definately do again. Five star experience!

This was a flight to remember. David was an extremely capable pilot who was very knowledgeable of the area and definitely loves his "backyard" - and what a fantastic backyard it is. Seeing it from the air is a truly amazing, memorable experience. David was also the perfect host, providing us with refreshments and offering to take photos of the two of us to add to the hundreds of other photos I took of our beautiful mountains. Thank you David for providing this service and good luck with your business.

This was a great trip around the Mansfield area. Dave was chatty and told us heaps about the area and all the points we could see from the top of the Paps (local landmark). Afternoon tea on the top of the Paps was an awesome highlight as the scenery was a beautiful backdrop. Dave was happy to be the camera man and made sure the teens had all the right photos. He was just great.

Having never been up in a helicopter before we were unsure what to expect. But David (our pilot) was both extremely skilled, confident and friendly and made us feel completely safe. His knowledge of the local area comes from over 20 years of flying and living in Mansfield. The views from The Paps and the helicopter were simply breathtaking and they also provided refreshments and morning tea. Thank you for such a fantastic way to end our holiday and letting us enjoy this fun new experience. It is something we will never forget.

We couldnt decide whether to do a flight or not as, well, as everyone knows helicopters are pretty pricey.
30 seconds into the flight as we lifted into the crystal clear sky above Mansfield on a glorious sunny day and headed for the Alps the cost was a long way from our minds.
We cruised our way up along the Delatite River towards Mt Buller at about a thousand feet with the autumn colours unrolling beneath us before hopping up over the top of the range, and dropping down to land at Craigs Hut in brilliant sunshine, no wind and 10 degrees C.
Our pilot David took photos for us and then laid out a morning tea of wine and cheese (yes its 11am but what the heck we're on holidays!!). After about an hour on the ground and looking around we took off back to Mansfield and flew over the Stirling and Buller summits before wending our way back to the airfield at Mansfield.
If the weather is superb as it was when we visited the views over the Alps are wonderful. The total trip was about 2 hours with probably 30-40 mins flying time.
As I said not cheap but for a special occasion cant be beaten. There are shorter flight options available but the one we did is highly recommended.

My wife, sister and I took a flight to Craig's Hut yesterday afternoon. It was fantastic. David's knowledge of the area, and his friendly manner was great. Also he took photos and knew the best aspects as the light changed around the hut. Highly recommended!!

We have enjoyed the movie "Man from Snowy River" for years...on a recent trip to Australia we were able to visit Craig's Hut; flying by helicopter from Mansfield. David, our pitot, was friendly, capable, helpful with our granddaughters (ages 2 and 4), and a great tour guide. He met us at the airfield, flew us in two groups to see the cabin, took photos, and provided afternoon tea. Great experience! We had perfect weather and lighting for photographs.Thank you David!

Where do I start , this helicopter experience was a true adventure up into the high country. From the day we booked we always seemed to have hurdles thrown at us mainly being the weather however our helicopter pilot Dave always stayed in contact with us over 3 week period prior to us taking off. He was always up beat and enthusiastic and always took a positive out of the negative 🤔 upon meeting him we knew straight away we were on a winner he took us up to Craig’s hut and it was truly magical and being the only ones up there due to four wheel drive tour season finishing up until November it meant we were solo!!! What a view and Dave’s knowledge of the area was truly amazing, from the history and origins of the hut to the surrounding areas he knew it all👌 To our surprise we had a little treat cheese biscuits and a bottle of 2016 Shiraz from the local wine growing area. Back in the air after a hour or so at Craig’s hut we headed over Mt Buller and ski fields again the word amazing comes to mind🤔
As I had never flown in a helicopter before I must praise Dave the pilot for his mannerism and words of encouragement which made me feel a whole lot better and felt safe!!
I would recommend this adventure ,it is a must tour that you will never forget and seeing and being a part of the famous Man from Snowy River movie area 👌
Thanks Dave for your patience and your magnificent tour truly unforgettable!!!
Cheers Mick n Sue 🍷🍷👍
Ps make sure you have enough room for heaps of photos 📸📸
