Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We really loved this with a family of five, kids 2,4,7. We wanted just a two hour ride but the chap said we’d get much more out of the four hour cruise. He showed us where to stop, where to fish, where had facilities to cook. The boys had SO much fun. Four hours was perfect, we saw goannas, we caught a fish, swam and cooked sausages! Fantastic day all round and at a cost of $120 well worth it.

Dave and Ron were very helpful and friendly. We were taken in the fast hire boat to our destination and collected later in the day. Just be aware of the bow spray if it’s choppy on the lake! A great service for those wanting to get to Howe Flat without any hassles.

We stopped off in Mallacoota en route to Merimbula.
Despite the effects of the bushfire it's still a lovely place to visit and the lake is great for a few hours on a boat.
We enjoyed our trip out and chatting at the hire shop before and after. Recommend this if you have a few hours to spare

We had a lovely 3 hour cruise in one of these hire boats. Pretty scenery from the water, natural bush and secluded inlets. Dave was super friendly and very informative, gave us all the instructions and info we needed. Great afternoon. Great value.

We hired a boat twice during a recent camping trip to Mallacoota. Grant the owner was great, he was happy to answer all our questions and gave us easy to follow instructions on how to get to the Narrows. Both boats we hired were very clean, easy to start and drive. Boat licences weren't required. I highly recommend Mallacoota Boat Hire. We had such a fun time.

My wife and I had the pleasure of using this service 5 times during March this year.
David was our first contact and helped us out with good information on the Fishing in the lakes.
I read the Bad reviews of the other Hire company and chose Mallacoota Boat Hire.
Proved to be a good choice.
Rates came down when we returned to rehire.
Boats are clean and can be hired without a boat license

David helped explain in detail what to do as I had not kayaked before. I had a wonderful experience and it was made perfect with dealing with such a lovely man. So pleased I could help a local business hit by the fires and then COVID-19. Please support this business on your visit to Mallacoota .

When we arrived at Mallacoota, there was unseasonably cold and windy forecast, much to our disappointment, the owner wasn't sure if the next day was even safe for us to go out in these conditions, he just informed us to come the next day in the morning at 9am and see how the condition goes.
The next day we just give it a go and hopefully he will turn up and rent us the boat.
At 8.55am he turned up as agreed, and was abit sceptical on the conditions, and he decided to rent us the boat and we also cut short the rental hours as after 2pm the winds will have picked up considerably to make the returning journey next to impossible.
After his safety briefing, and careful explanation on the numerous marker bouys to navigate pass we finally got to the fishing area called the narrows after more 1 hour of fighting against the wind and waves, and gotten soaked, thank god for windbreaker, from there we took shelter from the cold and gusty winds inside one of the coves.
Fishing was slow, and none was biting the baits, and we decided to call it a day, and head back to the jetty, the journey back took us slightly less than 1 hour and was lucky as it began to drizzle and winds began to pick up, visibility was dropping, and we somehow plotted out beating using our own Garmin and handphone Google map to assist us in finding the navigation markers to turn or keep near to ensure a safe return.
We managed to return early at 1pm and after we docked our boat and secured it nicely, and then owner wasn't anywhere in sight, we went back and took a warm shower to wash away the salt water on us, we returned to the jetty to wait for the owner and hecdrove in at 1.55pm, we thank him for the rental and the enjoyable time we got, apart from being fishless, but his concern for our safety have given us assurance that he is genuinely concerned about our safety.
Thank you sir for the great time in Mallacoota.

Thanks for your review. As explained before setting off, conditions would be choppy and uncomfortable but not dangerous. Because you listened and followed instructions all was good. Also you had a boat licence and much boating experience.

We originally hired a boat for 3 hours but it was no problem at all to extend that by calling up while we were out on the water. Even threw in a couple of fishing rods and bait. We had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend this as the best way to see the sights of the stunning park and inlet.

Six blokes in a slow boat went fishing - great fun, excellent service, rental fees were reasonable and fishing advice was detailed - unfortunately the results were unspectacular! Highly recommended activity while in Mallacoota!
