Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There is no enough car parks and Mt. Macedon council bills you on infringment ticket of 165$ rather than providing proper car park facilities.
Also Cafes and Hotels wont let you use services like toilets, they are all locked just there is one facility which is far from the gardens and still no car parks available for a minute of rest.
Dont go there unless it is a low traffic day and you can use few existing car parks available.
However ,I went there for automn gardens. The sight is pretty and nature is stunning good but,

MOUNT MACEDON HOTEL/PUB.......Was looking forward to a country pub meal today, but was told when ordering that the Chef was sick and we could only order pizza, disappointing but not the end of the world.. so ordered a Lamb souvlaki Pizza only to be told that there wasn’t any Lamb....so settled for Hawaiian...that was ok.
The hotel could do with a good clean, under our table was mud and dirt and a stray tomato, the toilets were quite dirty eg: floor could do with a sweep and mop the toilet cistern covered in dust and a bit of bleach wouldn’t go astray in the toilet. We had to ask for paper towel. The staff were very pleasant but there didn’t seem to be anyone in charge. I certainly wouldn’t recommend it and won’t be going back. Shame because that’s the only hotel there and previously it was a great place to eat.

This area is promoted as an Eco Trail, peaceful and tranquil. The beautiful area my family and I went to for a bushwalk was around Sanatorium Lake. However, in the car park, we were appalled that the public was lighting fires under beautiful old trees, one man was ripping the under branches from an old oak so his fire would burn. However, the worst thing was a group of 10 who had an actual bonfire going and they were burning everything they could as it had started drizzling. Plastic plates cups chairs etc were all being thrown on. We were there for around 4 hours and no rangers came and monitored the area. I will cross it off our bucket list but definitely won't go back.

Beware of bushfires!
Beware of irresponsible council!
Beware of hoons whom the local police turn a blind eye to!
Beware of dirt bikes who turn residential streets and every nature reserve into racing circuits especially on weekends!
Beware of residents who insists on burning wet refuse and smoking the area up!
Stay far away from the "local" mount macedon realestate agent! Conmen!!!

If you have children stay away! The air is full of pollen, smoke or dust most of the year!

A 21 metre tall memorial cross high on top of the Macedon range is worth a look on its own, but I suspect most people will go here (as we did) for the views.
All the way down to Melbourne with the skyscrapers looking like stacked Lego bricks on the horizon, or out far across central Victoria. Great photo spots.
Free entry, simple drive to access, easy walk from the carpark, cafe on site.
Worth a visit.

If you've never been to Mt Macedon, plan to! The area is just magnificent and lots of little towns around. The peak of the mountain houses the memorial cross, make sure you drive up a walk here for a look, amazing views.

Mount Macedon is truly a magical place, especially in the Autumn & Spring, I recommend taking a picnic or having a barbecue with the family. Beautiful scenery and smells amazing because of all the trees. Lovely place to visit.

This is a treasure of a location for the drive there, for the walks, for the views, for the most beautiful gardens along the way, for the glorious colours of trees and shrubs, for the accessibility and for the quiet reflection.
All except the Cross steps are accessible by wheelchair!
