Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Came across the Museum spontaneously whilst looking for a cafe. As locals to the area, we were very surprised to discover it even existed! The lady working told us the story of how it came to be and a bit about the architecture of the building. The exhibits were nicely put together with the space well used and gave a good overview of the areas rural history.
There was no fee for Museum entry and the cafe is adjacent. They also have some very cute things available in the gift shop, many handmade.

I'm in local history groups so maybe biased, but this Museum is free, has a great cafe attached, is opposite another great cafe, has cute books and gifts to buy hard to find elsewhere, and there is something for all age groups. The Museum includes children's activities around its exhibitions. Toilets are the best in Lilydale! You can take half an hour and look at a small current exhibit or spend an hour or two looking at everything.

This is a very small museum focussing on local history in the Yarra Valley. There is a cafe run as part of the museum when you walk in off the street. It has a nice gift shop downstairs with very friendly and helpful staff. The exhibits upstairs are high quality and beautifully presented. They have an activity sheet for kids. If their museum was only larger it would draw more of a crowd. Nevertheless it was all beautifully presented. It was free - so I can't complain!

Drop in here for some interesting local history after taking a good walk along Warburton Trail, then catch a drink and feed at Gracious Grace next door. Nice family outing.

The Yarra Ranges Regional Museum, set in the old Lilydale Council offices is architecturally impressive and very modern. There is a very good restaurant attached, and a lovely gift shop, with unique and quirky reasonably priced mementoes which tie in with the exhibitions and museum collection. The history of Lilydale (and the region) is beautifully displayed, and the display of Dame Nellie Melba is very special. Definitely one of the highlights of Lilydale.

This museum always has interesting exhibitions that are well worth visiting. I have seen a Ned Kelly exhibition as well as a photographic (portrait) exhibition, both of which were excellent. Keep a close eye out for travelling exhibitions as they're not always well advertised but well worth seeing. It has a small shop selling museum type goods, some of which are local, and a great cafe next door too.

Great collection of drawings and insights into making of Hairy McLary.
Interesting details about life of Arabella Slapcabbage otherwise known as Lynley Dodd’s. Everyone loves her books and it was fantastic to see her journey outlined.
