Always nice to visit. Usually artistic activities for the children and interesting exhibits. Good for school holidays and a nearby park and cafe is helpful too!

We were passing through Lilydale and decided to pop into the museum for coffee and scrumptious apple pie in the cafe. Then thought we'd better check out the museum. Fascinating history of white settlement in the Yarra Valley, and Coldstreams most famous daughter - Dame Nellie Melba. Very educational, well presented and interesting.

Lilydale and surrounds history. You can buy most books that are offered. Just a great place to visit and look around.

Yarra Valley Regional Museum is a beautifully designed contemporary space overlooking the quaint and charming Lilydale Croquet Club. Oil, Paint and Ochre, the current exhibition, offers a fascinating insight into the history of the Yarra Valley by focusing on the extraordinary friendship between William Barak, Wurundjeri Ngurungaeta and the de Pury family. Exhibits included paintings, drawings, letters and documents painting... More

This week I visited the excellent First World War exhibition in Lilydale. It finishes on the 23rd of August, so I made an effort to get there and I am so pleased that I did. It features many photos and personal stories. Some of the photos show the appalling conditions that these brave men found themselves in. There is a... More

I went to see the WW1 display. The staff greet you when you enter and are very welcoming and friendly, explaining what's on show and where to go. The exhibition space is on the small side but all the items were very well displayed to tell a rich narrative as you moved through the room. The exhibits really brought home... More

The building itself is full of history also and was the Shire of Lillydale offices for many years. The museum restaurant is well worth fitting into your visit. Lovely coffee and very tasty meals. This is a great museum but pretty small and it doesn't take long to look around everything. It has its permanent local history section, and a constantly changing (after a few weeks) special display section, so you will always be able to see something different. The lady at the service desk was very nice and friendly, greeting us as we... More
