We visited the Farm because it was on our list of Group Activities for our week in Bright. What a wonderful excursion this was. Jason gave a really informative talk as we toured around the various ponds etc in perfect Autumn weather. The brilliant colours of the trees just added to the experience.

We stopped off here to have a look, we weren't sure if we were going to fish or not but while we were there a lot of people were trying their luck and there didn't seem to be many fish taking the bait. We decided to have a look in the shop instead, however, the fish available for purchase were all smoked and we don't like smoked fish so my husband bought pate to take back to the van. The park is free to enter and hire of the rods and bait is also free, all you have to pay for is the fish you want to take home. This is a bit of a bargain and the park itself is very pretty and well worth a stop off.

Hey Lorraine, Thank you for the review. There are days when the fishing isn't great and unfortunately it has more to do with the weather than us. Some things are behond our control. We are sorry we were not holding any fresh fish when you visited. It can be hard to predict numbers over long weekends and we would hate our fresh product to go to waste. We do however offer the service of collecting fresh fish while you wait. Our wait times are around 10 minutes. We hope you enjoyed the Patè and hopefully next time you visit the experience will be more enjoyable. All the best. Mt Fresh Team.

Between 7 adults we only caught 3 small golden trout after 1 & 1/2 hr. Went as soon as they opened at 10am, but it was already getting very hot
Enjoyable though especially as some of us were first time fishers
The fish bait was a bit too wet though apparently, which meant that we were mainly just feeding the fish :-p

We stumbled across this on a trip to Bright and it was so much more fun than expected. Sally, the owner was lovely and very friendly with her years worth of knowledge. We paid for what we caught and we had loads of options of what to catch. The land is gorgeous and green and the fishing is harder than expected. We caught 2 trout in 10 minutes and there is our food for the next week. Very happy we came here and we will definitely be back.

This is definitely not to be missed while visiting Bright & the surrounding area.Harrietville is well worth taking the drive down to & it's not far. There are several Ponds full of Trout & Salmon. You can try catching your own or like us we bought 2 Fresh Trout & a piece of Smoked Salmon. We had the Trout last night which were excellent & full of flavour.Tonight we had the Smoked Salmon with a Cheese Platter & it was beautiful & so tasty. They were so good we wished we'd bought more.Put this on your bucket list to go to.

We had a great time fishing with our 4 and 1.5 year olds. The 4 year old now thinks he is a master fisherman, the 1.5 year old fed the fish happily, and we took dinner home (fresh, smoked and pate) - everyone wins! I did restrict my fisherman to three fish so we didn’t get a shock as we left...

The trout farm is on the highway between Bright and Harrietville. It doesn't look much on the drive up but is really beautiful once inside. There is no charge to walk in and have a wander around. There are a number of different dams to catch fish in and equally as many again where you can feed the fish. The owner explains that whilst fishing is free, you must pay for anything you catch. He gave us an explanation of average size and type of fish in each dam and then let us go for it. The bait was provided free of charge.

We were pleasantly surprised by the per kilo price around $20/kilo after they were gutted. While he was gutting the fish the owner have the kids a real science show as well which they enjoyed.

For four kids to catch a fish each, feed the fish and watch them gutted we spent about 2hrs there. Great entertainment and we will be back.

We found this establishment hidden away off the road. It has many pools full of fish, splashing about.
Whilst we didn't attempt to catch any, we did buy some smoked fish fillets and they were to die for!
Highly recommended when we eat then later in the evening!
Children might like the opportunity to go fishing there, plenty to try your hand at.

The place has taken a lot of time and work to set up the pools and maintain stock, and supply retail sales of fish. We wish them well for the future. So much potential...
