Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Pretty reservoir with big dam wall teens like for rock scrambling.
Otherwise ‘normal’ adults can enjoy the easy walk along wall path & back.
Ate sandwiches on lawn lakeside and soaked up nice views on a summer day.

My wife and I visited this place recently during our holiday in Grampians where we stayed for 3 nights in a Holiday Villa.

This place was just a short drive from where we were staying. We walked along the Dam wall and walked up a bit further to enjoy the scenic views.

It was off peak season and there were very few people around.

Lake Bellfield is located south of the Grampians and is a popular tourist spot, known for its stunning panoramas, fishing and picnic spots. The lake is popular with swimmers in the warmer months and the setting is peaceful.
If you're into fishing, bring your rod as there are redfin and blackfish to be caught. Don't forget to get a licence though.
If you have a canoe, bring it along as well. No jet skis or power boats are allowed on the lake.
Plenty of parking, picnic tables, toilets. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Bring all your own food and drinks - don't rely on anything to be there.

Enjoyed having a swim at the lake in the specified area. Very refreshing and peaceful! Not far to drive from Halls Gap.

We were staying at the nearby Lakeside Caravan Park and this was a short bush walk from there. Lots of fun, involving a few rocks and steps to negotiate but definitely manageable with kids, which was great. Clearly visible are the areas from which the lake has been constructed and this is an interesting sideline. There is a swimming area but we didn't access this. Surrounded by beautiful bushland so well worth a visit. If you don't wish to go via a bush walk there is a car park that drives directly up to the lake.

A nice walk across the Dam wall for great views of the surrounding rock monoliths. Can be followed by a picnic and swim.

love the walk along the dam wall, and exploring where the 'overflow' would run if there was ever enough water. This is a magical place, and there is a caravan park nearby, and picnic areas.

This lake is located just over 5 mins out of Halls Gap and offers a great spot for a swim, a spot of fishing or a kayak trip. There are a couple of signed locations on the shore as you head out from HG but we actually found an unmarked turnoff before them both that offered far better access to the shoreline (albeit down a slightly uneven track - care needed if you're not in a 4WD). Once down at the shoreline it was easy to launch our kayaks and head off around the trees in the water and then over to the far shore for an explore. You're not allowed to go too close to the dam wall (fair enough) and no motorboats are allowed on the Lake. We checked out the boat ramp and it wasn't the best, no doubt affected by the fact that the lake level had been allowed to drop about 2m recently. Still, if you have kayaks, or even just want a quiet spot for fishing, swimming or simply to chill out, this lake is ideal.

I would love to go back here for sunrise or sunset. It was just amazing at 9am so I can't even imagine how much better it would be at other times. A must if you go to Halls Gap.
