Gold and Relics based in Newcomb Victoria are absolutely amazing. Recently did a gold prospecting tour with the boys, absolutely incredible.

We are not talking about fly-by-nighters here. These guys have real life experience and advice to share.

ONLY thanks to them, we came away with a head full of knowledge and a few small gold specs and a couple of nuggets. All found in the creek and the ground using their advice, their experience and their knowledge.

If you want to experience the real bush and learn how to prospect for gold, please give these guys a crack. We have not and will never regret our decision to make the journey.

If you are thinking about doing some fossicking for gold or investing in a metal detector, I would strongly recommend a day tour with Gold and Relics, currently based in the gorgeous town of Clunes.

We enjoyed every minute of our time with Darren who is enthusiastic, knowledgeable and full of common sense. His straight forward approach is great and he is eager for every participant to do well.

He adds his stories to the mix of activities which includes using some of the best metal detectors available and learning about the basic geology and vegetation of the gold fields, what to look for and where to focus your time.

We had a fantastic day and came home with some little bits of gold as well as a collection of old nails.
Best of all, we both learned an awful lot in a short time because Darren is a natural when it comes showing novices the ropes and he left a lasting impression on both of us. Do it before you buy that detector.

A great father's day present, heading off with the very professional crew from "Gold and Relics". Everything was supplied, everything was explained and I even found some gold!! (plus a few bits of junk which made the day a lot of fun because there was always something to dig for ...). Highly recommended... and certainly has me thirsting for more.

I had a great day Gold Detecting with Darren. I always wanted to try my hand at finding gold with a metal detector and decided to go with a professional to start with. I was glad I did as there is a lot more to finding gold than to run off into the bush and pick up nuggets. Darren took four of us under his wing for the day and explained the do's and dont's of looking for gold. He explained everything I had always been wondering which gave me a completely different view to what I had.
A BBQ lunch was provided and I even managed to find a small piece of gold. It was an excellent day and I came away with a wealth of knowledge.I can highly recommend this day out. You will learn a lot.

I'd been wanting to do gold detecting for a long, long time so finally I bit the bullet and booked myself in for a Gold Prospecting One-day Adventure, with Gold and Relics, out of Clunes. It was a fantastic day weather-wise, and four prospectors, with Darren there to guide and inform us, set off to do some serious detecting near Creswick. All equipment was supplied and fitted, our yummy gourmet BBQ lunch was cooked, cold drinks were available and plenty of one on one advice for all. Two of us were lucky and found some small gold (and of course, many pieces of metal) but the day wasn't long enough and then we were on our way home. It was a fantastic day out and I totally enjoyed myself. Lorraine W

Picked up at our hotel by Darren and taken on a half day gold detecting tour. My husband and I have been fossicking but didn't really know where and how. Darren was genuinely happy to pass on his knowledge. Found a small piece of gold which was very exciting. Wish we had more time to do the full day tour. Well worth it.

Had a great day panning and detecting for gold around Creswick. Darren is full of information on the signs to look for where gold could be found, and gives excellent guidance with both panning and detecting. I found a small nugget first attempt following his advice. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone wanting to try their hand at prospecting.

I recently attended a PMAV meeting where Gold and Relics took a number of prospectors out for a taste of their gold adventure tours. All I can say is at Gold and Relics all strangers are made to feel welcome. Gold prospecting starts here....learn from the best and relax knowing you are in capable hands. Leanne and Darren are generous with their time and so professional. Darren has a wealth of knowledge and can give you the leads on where and how to find the stuff we all crave....Central Victorian gold nuggets....perhaps not quite the size of a Welcome Stranger, but any few grams are welcome.

We were a group of 4 with interest in, but no knowledge of, gold prospecting. Enter Darren from Gold and Relics tours. He took total care of us providing the equipment, showing us how to use it all, where to look when in the field, and some interesting history from the gold rush days.

An excellent time was had by all. I would highly recommend Darren and Gold & Relic tours for anyone interested in this fascinating hobby.

Did this half day tour on a Saturday with Darren our Tour Guide who was really friendly and helpful. I brought my 9 and 12 year old along who found it fun. Darren showed us around the area and took us to a spot for panning and a spot for using metal detectors. He was really helpful with tips on having success. It was so much fun, I wish we had booked the full day tour, we didn't get enough action. We found specks of gold in the creek with the panning and found a nice little nugget with the metal detector, though there is a knack to all this prospecting, this is why you really need to go on this tour to learn from the experts. We spent about 30 mins panning and 45 mins with gold detector. Its really not much time at all. Morning tea was provided, kids loved the cakes and coke.

So glad to hear that you enjoyed your tour. It was a pleasure having you and your children along to join in the adventure. The morning tour is an introduction to gold prospecting and commences with a tour of the old goldmining diggings, morning tea and then onto some panning followed by gold detecting. In the afternoon we concentrate on gold detecting so you get another 4 hours on the detectors when you book the full day tour. We are happy to extend a half day tour into a full day if we have the room to do so. Thanks for your great review Lucy.
