About
See firsthand how some of Australia's finest natural fiber products are made on a guided tour of the historic Creswick Woollen Mills. Meet and feed resident alpacas, and then follow the journey of yarn, from shearing through processing and weaving into luxurious products prized throughout the country. It’s a great way to appreciate Australian-made craftsmanship and makes an easy excursion from Ballarat or Daylesford. Choose from four daily tour times and make your way to Creswick Woollen Mills, located about 75 miles (120 km) from Melbourne or only a quick 20-minute drive from either Daylesford or Ballarat. Tours are 11am, 12noon, 1pm & 2pm daily. Our new cafe has recently opened with a selection of food and refreshing drinks that are locally sourced and produced. The tour is $15 per adult (includes up to three children free) and the entry fee is redeemable as a $15 discount on purchases over $50. $10 per senior or pre-arranged tour over 8 people. Entry fee is redeemable as a $10 discount on purchases over $40. The rest of the Mill’s attractions are free entry! We also offer free entry to the Mill’s A Very Fine Yarn interactive exhibit when you show your RACV card. Very interesting and good shopping

We visited the mills during a two night stay at Creswick. We started with the free self guided tour and found it very interesting. Unfortunately there weren’t any live alpacas on the site at the time, but I believe they are often there for you to see. We then moved to the vast shop which is filled with so many wonderful items, bedding, clothes, gifts, footwear, hats, scarves and much, much more, all made from alpaca, angora, merino etc. While a lot of items are expensive, the quality is extremely high. Having said that, there is also a lot of reasonably priced garments and bedding items, including many sale items representing great value. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Creswick.

happy with purchases.

We called and enquired about a tour but no one called us back. Assume they werent running due to covid-19. We visited anyway and had excellent friendly service by a girl whose name escapes me. I managed to pick up some woolen blankets on sale which were a good bargain. Apart from that, the cafe was closed so we couldnt try that, and we couldnt view the mill, only through the windows. Even though I had purchased a cardigan and jumper from their store in Daylesford the day before, for the most part i think the clothes would be out of the average persons budget. I think my jumper was about $330 and the cardigan was about $460, before a sale discount was applied. The quality is amazing however. Was worth the trip for the blankets we purchased but would probably only visit again if we could do the tour.

Perfect for a couples getaway. Great food and plenty of walks to do. We stayed mid-week and it was nice & quiet, which suited us.

Stopped here on the advice of others and was pleasantly surprised. A tour around the mill, a browse among the garments of wool and alpaca and a very nice reasonably priced lunch and coffee. The staff were helpful and friendly. Would recommend.

Creswick Woollen Mills

I travelled recently to Creswick with my husband and another couple and visited the Mill.
We learned about the history, visited an amazing showroom with beautiful blankets, scarves, clothing made from alpaca wool and other soft fibres. There was so much to look at and then a cafe serving delicious food. The alpacas were so cute.
We went on a Tuesday when it was quiet, but the Mills have buses of visitors and I’m sure very busy. Recommend a stop at the historical Mills, you won’t be disappointed.

The staff here are so friendly and welcoming. You can go on an independent tour of the mill. There is plenty of woollens to entice you to buy. Alpaca, cashmere, possum and sheep wool made jumpers, cardigans etc.

Cute animals
Jul. 2019
This is basically a store selling alpaca wool products. They have some animals outside the building that are really cute. There is also a cafe there. I understand that they also have tours of the mill.
