Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Having driven through Camperdown on many occasions over the years I had never taken the time to visit this lookout or see the volcanic lakes .It is well worth doing for some beautiful and interesting scenery.

Driving through a caravan park to get to the Botanical Gardens and lookout was weird but worth the awkward. Beautiful and educational.

You have to drive through the camp ground to get to the lookout. From there you can see 2 lakes one salt water and one fresh water. It was raining but still a great view anyway. Worth checking out.

Located about 3 kms from the Camperdown Information Centre along Park Lane, after driving through the caravan park in the Botanical Gardens precinct you arrive at a fabulous lookout that offers views across the twin crater lakes of Lake Bullen Merri and Lake Gnotuk.
Even though located side by side, one Bullen Merri is freshwater and the other Gnotuk is a salt water lake.
I'd highly recommend the detour to this lookout if passing through Camperdown.

The road winds up/down this hill with many views on the way. Doesn't take long to get up there. Its like a hill in the middle of nowhere, so you get 360 degrees panoramic views. I was the only one there at the time (I travel alone) and felt an eerie spiritual experience like I was halfway to heaven lol. Quiet, peaceful and the views were awesome. Nothing much more to say except best take binoculars and of course a camera.

At other side of the caravan park. Lakes are formed by lava and water explosions. Great views over the flat plain in most directions. Windy.
