The self-guided tour was absolutely the way to go as we were given the freedom and confidence to explore and take our time. Darren has a planned the journey to a tee, taking you through the most delightful and unique experiences the region has to offer. We were relieved to know it was mostly downhill and the tip-top bikes provided made it a really comfortable ride. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone who likes bikes and wine 👍

We had an absolute wonderful Tour De Vines experience. There were 10 of us. The riding was very manageable. We all had e-bikes. The location was amazing as we made our way along the old rail line trail from Rutherglen to Bright. All of our lunch time and dinner meals & wine tasting experiences were all booked in advance through Tour De Vines. Everyone enjoyed the tasting and quite a few bottles were purchased, which Tour De Vines transported and kept safe for us until we could return to our cars to take home. I particularly loved the stop at the Pumpkin Seed Factory. I had no idea of the different variety of pumpkin seeds there are! There are, raw, lightly salted, chillie flavoured, roasted even dipped in dark chocolate. 😋 to name a few. I came away having purchased quite a few varieties of seeds, plus different types of oils. All our accommodation was great and worthy of 4 stars and above. The drivers were amazing Michael & Bernard looked after us and were very helpful making sure we had maps and knew where our next stop was. We did a self-guided tour. Which suited our needs and rider skills. I would thoroughly recommend this tour to any keen cyclist enthusiast, who love to ride and enjoy some wonderful social experiences!! Thank you so much Tour De Vine.

Thank you so much for your lovely review, it really does make a difference to our day when we see guests that are happy with what we have put together, so thank you. We will pass on your compliments to Bernard and Michael, very kind and we are lucky to have them on our team. Hope you are enjoying the pumpkin seeds and we'd love to see you back again sometime soon, perhaps in South Australia, Tasmania, NSW, Queensland or maybe NZ! Keep up the riding.

I did the Lilydale to Warburton rail trail tour, with Tour De Vines. l had a fantastic day from beginning to end. It was really well organized, the day began on time as per scheduled and our bikes were loaded on to a trailer, by the lovely bus driver (Bernard) this was followed by lovely bus trip (on the Tour De vine’s bus) out to Lilydale where a morning coffee awaited us. During our trip the wonderful guide Damien gave us a brief but informative history about the Yarra Valley Region. The actual trail was beautiful and easy to ride. I liked the fact l could ride at my own pace. We had lunch at the Carriage Cafe
What topped the day off was visiting two lovely wineries Elmswood Estate and Sir Paz Estate where we were treated to wine tasting.
What a great day. I would highly recommend this tour.

Thanks for taking the time to post such a great review, and what a pleasure it was travelling with you on the weekend on our Yarra valley day tour. How good are the e-bikes! We will certainly pass on your comments to Bernard and Damian and all the team. Hope you enjoy the wines you purchased and we'd love to see you again on any of our tours across Australia, and one day NZ, Asia or Europe! Keep riding.

Cycling the Great Victorian Rail Trail with Tour de Vines 4 day Guided Tour was such a fantastic joyful experience for so many reasons.
-Beforehand I had wondered if, as a ‘60 something’ with a few ‘health issues’ I would safely survive the unknowns riding along the old railway corridor from Mansfield to Tallarook? Would I manage the large hired ebike and whether the trail surfaces ( with a few damp and rutted sections), the inclines and curves would buck me off and bite me ? But Tour de Vines found me the perfectly comfy ebike with plenty of power when asked for with the long gradual inclines. Padded cycle pants are a must to bring with you though as is some sunscreen.
-I wondered also if our accomodation would deliver a good nights sleep and if the others in our group would make for a happy homogenous mix?

Gloriously Tour de Vines delivered above and beyond!!

The many personal and scenic highlights included cruising comfortably through the 160 odd kms by adopting the ‘no pressure, be safe, enjoy the journey and stay towards the back of the group’ technique , knowing our Guide Damian and my cycling companions would be there for me if needed.
But best of all was seeing how our little group of strangers of varied ages , abilities and life journeys melded smoothly into great cycling buddies looking out for and caring for each other on the trail and during our excellent meals, sharing lots of laughs and memories to last a lifetime together.
Want to know ‘The Secret’ to trips like this?
Bring your good humour, expect and enjoy the unexpected. Inhale frequently the ‘serenity’ ( Bonnie Doon was a highlight in so many ways), the quirky sweetness of the villages and don’t miss learning from unique history and suck in all the stunning scenery this section of Victoria offers and leave your stresses at home. You will love every bit of this tour!
Congratulations and a big Thankyou to Damian, Michael and all the team, this is a highly recommended multi day guided trip for many abilities. Long wonderful days, great meals, good beds and so much fun.
Congratulations also must go to all those that have helped make the Great Victorian Rail Trail a world class attraction and to the outstanding hospitality staff at the hotels, restaurants and accommodation we met along the way, kudos to Victoria!

Our small group of family & friends have not long returned from an amazing ebike trip with Tour de Vines down the east coast of Tasmania from Launceston to Hobart.
Every aspect of our trip was a highlight.
The itinerary was well paced with bike riding & enjoying various wine tastings along the way.
The accommodation was excellent as were the meals.

But more importantly than any of these were the 2 people who accompanied us throughout the tour.
Fuchsia was our support rider who not only rode every day with the group, but kept everything running smoothly so we could all just relax & enjoy the ride.
Her organisational skills coupled with her enthusiastic approach to everything was such a delight to experience.
Bernard our amazing support vehicle driver was so much more than a driver.
He always ensured the bikes were charged & ready to ride. His knowledge & experience were invaluable.
I can honestly say our bike ride with Tour de Vines was definitely enhanced by having Fuchsia & Bernard as part of the team.

I would also like to acknowledge the role of the owner of Tour de Vines - Damian.
From my very 1st original enquiry Damian at all times has been professional, courteous & attentive to my questions & emails.
Our small group had a fantastic experience with Tour de Vines & hopefully we will be able to enjoy another ride in the future.

The ride along the Rail Trail is great fun but 3 out of 4 of the groups got lost along the way - be sure to leave yourself plenty of time after the first venue to get to Milawa. The Olive Farm was closed and so between 9:30am and 1pm there was no food - only one wine tasting so pack a snack!
Lunch was at Redbank Winery which was gorgeous but only a toasted sandwich is included in the tour price. At each location we visited at least one of the groups in our tour was not on the booking sheet and so the venue was not expecting us. Overall, we had an awesome day but this could really be better organized - perhaps a guide could meet the groups at each location to ensure everything was on track and ready for them.

Self guided cycling and wine tasting / lunch tour . With two nights accommodation in Mudgee. A lovely mini break organised quickly with Tour de Vines. We loved our time away spoilt for choice with cafes and pubs all very COVID safe. Stayed at Beverley House a gorgeous bed and breakfast. Usually steer clear of this type of accommodation but on arrival our lovely hostess produced a basket full of fresh food items for our 2 night stay then left us alone. Easy walking around the wide main streets and a short drive to the many vineyards for wine tasting/ buying. We did a drive recon prior to our ride the following day. Perfect short stay break. The only down side the staff at the bike rental didn’t give us any instructions re gears etc and no place on the bike to strap jackets or bags the holder on my bike was broken. On the plus side they coped with the gravel roads no punctures.

Thank you Damien for an amazing 4 days. All aspects of the experience were as described in the itinerary. There was a little confusion about the meeting time for the commencement of the ride, however, we were met by Bernard who was our assistance throughout the ride. Accommodation was great - well worth the upgrade - meals too. The bikes were well serviced and presented no problems at all. Certainly again worth the upgrade to e-bikes, a 48km day without one would have been interesting. We tasted great food, drank fabulous wines and enjoyed ball our experiences along the way.

This new trip was our second with Tour de Vines and every aspect exceeded our already high expectations. The 3 night - 4 day self guided trip covers the length of the rail trail from Mansfield to Tallarook, with some of the most stunning scenery in Victoria. Bernard was the perfect host, from our set off point at Mansfield, to collection at Tallarook on the final day, as well as checking in on us daily and transferring our luggage after each stop. The trail is well maintained with only a few road crossings making it safe & stress free riding. Supplied e-bikes were easy to ride and we loved the pedal assist for the few inclines & longer rides. We're only occasional riders however physically we managed the ride without any issues. Accommodation in historic pubs in Alexandra and Yea added to the unique experience and we chose to book dinner at these venues as well and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you again Tour de Vines: Damian for the initial communication & booking, and Bernard for the on the ground support. We'll be back for another tour!

I recently did the Tour de SA Vineyards 6 day guided tour. This is described as ‘the ultimate food and wine lovers tour’. I really wanted to love this and it certainly sounded great in the itinerary, but unfortunately too much that was delivered was not as described. Our ‘experienced tour guide’ was not an ‘expert on the local area’ but rather was leading his very first tour without even undergoing a trial run! He couldn’t find the Barossa Rail Trail, so instead we were on the road, in mostly wet conditions. Rather than his ‘number one priority being our safety’ we had semi-trailers roaring by, drivers hurling abuse at us, and we felt very endangered. Lunch at St Hallets which was supposed to be a ‘highlight of our tour’ was a very ordinary cheese platter delivered in an enclosed block wall room, rather than the lovely dining room next door. The ‘exclusive wine and food matching lunch’ at Wirra Wirra was, disappointingly, another cheese platter. Our accommodation at the ‘luxurious Clare Country Club’ was a basic motel room in the middle of a car park. One member of our group found the cycling challenging due to health issues, but was never provided the ‘support available if needed’. There is much more that I could add. However there were some enjoyable facets which were delivered as expected:- lunch at Skillogalee (definitely ‘gourmet’), accommodation at Mayfair Hotel in Adelaide (definitely ‘beautiful’), and the Riesling and Shiraz Trails (definitely ‘delightful’ and ‘picturesque’). Much more of this quality needed to get this tour up to scratch.

We are of course extremely disappointed that you didn't enjoy your trip with us. We have emailed you in response to your concerns but happy to restate on this forum. Yes your guide was inexperienced and the small section of cycling on the road should not have occurred. Like many businesses in tourism, staffing is a big challenge, but that's no excuse, and for that we apologise. Inclement weather didn't help the enjoyment of your holiday. We disagree with your characterisation that the accommodation was "room in the middle of a car park" and we never describe the Clare Country Club as 'luxurious', so no idea where you got that from. The terms 'comfortable' and 'quality' are certainly used and your confirmed itinerary lists all accommodation. 3 of your 5 nights are in award winning 4 star + properties including the Mayfair (2 nights) and recently awarded Novotel Barossa as well as the very reputable Clare Country Club and the lovely suites at the Manna in Hahndorf. These properties are all very good, reputable with high standards. It's worth noting that on 2 of your nights the properties were forced to call security and threaten police due to your rowdy behaviour. One of those properties has in fact had to compensate other guests staying there due to their disrupted stay. Swearing and abusing staff is also not tolerated and if we had of know this at the time we would have stopped the tour then and there. This tour is a cycling tour, and your reference to 'support available if needed' is definitely provided. But you neglect to say, nor did you advise us in advance, that one of your group hadn't ridden a bike before and in fact fell off on the first attempt. It seems this was our fault. The guide was forced to reduce your riding due to this. This is one example where your complaint we believe is unreasonable and we can only surmise your expectations were well above what we and the properties in the regions you visited could deliver. We are extremely proud of the tours we offer and the service we deliver, and receive many 5 star reviews on this same tour. Again we are sorry you didn't enjoy your time with us.
