- SpicksandSpecksMelbourne, Australia95 contributionsInteresting TourReally interesting tour of the gaol. Chris, the guide did a great job at giving us the history of the gaol. He was also sensitive to the group participants and gave people the option of not listening to some parts of the tour (info about the hangings that took place there). It was a good place to start our day of historical sites.Visited January 2023Written 8 January 2023
- Graham HMelbourne, Australia808 contributionsDon’t miss the history! This is an hour’s entertainment not to be missed when visiting Beechworth. The gaol ceased operating in 2004, and is now in private hands. Tours covering local gold rush history and especially Ned Kelly, are held daily. We joined the history tour (tickets obtainable online). Prices are reduced for seniors! The tour is lively, educational, amusing, and entertaining. Our guide, Daniel, was first rate! There is a cafe to start the day, before the tour, or afterwards. We thoroughly enjoyed the interesting experience.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 March 2023

Interesting tour, guide informative, but thought fee was a little expensive, $25 per head, for what it was. Nonetheless it was enjoyable on a rainy Beechworth day.

A review from The Guthrie Collective
Supported a group of ladies with intellectual disabilities to a historical night tour. It was fantastic. Chris (the tour guide) was incredibly inclusive, took all questions seriously and was very educated. The stories he told were insightful and he captured everyones attention by his enthusiasm and passion for history. The tour length was great, not too long!

Great tour and history of the jail. The volunteers who work there are very knowledgeable especially on the Kelly Gang.

The tour guide was amazing, he captivated the audience and was a pleasure to listen to. My only gripe was the cost of the tickets were expensive two adults and 1 child $70 for a 45min tour.
