Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Most Information Center's provide good information and are generally helpfull as this one was but the building was of more interest. The first town hall goes back to 1858 and then came a hall behind and in 1889 the new front building was completed.Worth a look.

Thank you Oldjack, it really is a fantastic building. We are lucky to call it and the Beechworth Historic Precinct home.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. I booked a walking tour with them and it was really interesting finding out about Beechworth and my guide David was very knowledgeable and friendly. The Ned Kelly tour sounds good and will do that walking tour when I go back.

This is in one of the rooms in the Town Hall, which in itself, is a magnificent building. This room however has been whitened and the unique personality of the hall is seen less here than in other parts of it.

Nevertheless, it detracts nothing from the visit. This is a standard information centre, that is very well lit in a beautiful building. Like other information centres they have a great range of products to buy and local information.

The ladies inside were lovely... really helpful. They gave me a map to find Billsons and I subsequently got sidetracked, but the map was helpful because it helped me locate other things I wanted to see. I did eventually get to Billsons but not without being considerably sidetracked.

And I bought a hobby horse here ! They recommended that I didn't ride it along the street because others may say something AND they were right, others did indicate that it isn't normal to ride one up the street... when I jokingly attempted to after some ladies mentioning how charming my horse was.

Have wanted to visit Beechworth for decades and finally got the chance. Parked near the VIC and knew it had to be our first stop! A beautiful old building in what was the old council shire hall that dates back to 1888 and has been repurposed. On our visit there was an Anne Frank exhibit in the main hall, very interesting. The staff were super helpful with maps, suggestions & ideas on what would be of interest to us. Make it your first stop in Beechworth, you won't be disappointed.

They need to get their information correct. They sent us out to one free camp apparently for RVs and caravans but large boulders had been put in the way and there was no where to actually camp. Then they sent us to another free camp but most of the roads were rutted out or inaccessable with a caravan because of trees. Then they gave us a list of what's on for the weekend, we went all the way to Yackandandah to attend the Lions market that was advertised but it had been changed to the following weekend. The second thing we decided to do of there list was to go berry picking where they advertised strawberries, blueberries and boysenberries but when we got out there they had strawberries, raspberries a d blackberries.
The information centre really needs to confirm their info before they tell people about it.

This information centre is the first place to visit when you get to Beechworth. The team staffing the centre know everything there is to know about what's happening in town. When we were there, they even knew that Billsons had run out of the most popular cordial flavour and they were the only outlet in town with stock.

We stopped here late one Saturday for some maps and came back a few days later for a day trip from Dinner Plain. Both times the staff were so helpful and recommended places to visit. Very knowledgeable and friendly.
Definitely suggest you stop here and get some insights into the local area.

Come here to get tons of information not just about the town but the local areas and further afield. There're lots of maps, self-guided walking maps and information on all the activities for young and old. Helpful and friendly service. Take a peek inside in the grand hall before you leave.
