Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visiting this gorgeous little bookshop is just like walking into a friend’s home. You can pick up a selection of books, grab a coffee, sit in the comfy couch and decide which one (or two) to take home. Nic the owner is very knowledgeable and lovely.

I love love love this place. It is so inviting, kinda like a lolly shop! Great books, so much variety. You are welcomed and invited to look around and ask anything about the books the shop in general. Seriously you have to stop here, there's couches and tea. Do not by pass here...stop ❤️

Located in the beautiful coastal town of Aireys Inlet is a delightful little haven know as Great Escape Books. The shelves are brimming with books on a wide range of subjects & the owners genuine love for books can be seen in the way that they handpick titles to satisfy a range of tastes & specialities.
[ Dictionary Definition: Book - "a written or printed work consisting of pages glued or sewn together along one side and bound in covers" ]
Being a small, independent, family owned business the staff themselves strive to personally review many of the books & my husband & I witnessed how they seem to thoroughly enjoy chatting with their valued customers about shared favourite stories & genres.
[ Couches, Coffees & Caterpillars ]:
For those who love curling up with a good book & refreshing 'cuppa' you can do just that. With a couple of couches on site & Coffee, Tea or Hot Chocolate available to purchase, the scene is set for you to take time out from browsing & relax whilst contemplating your next buy.
Young ones & teenagers are well looked after by means of an impressive array from all the well know & most popular Authors. Additionally a collection of puzzles, soft character toys, games and Lego are in stock.
The personalised experience is topped off by both the Loyalty Club that offers Member discounts & a Newsletter that keeps you updated in regards upcoming Literary Events
[Summary]:
My husband & I are both avid readers & die-hard fans of actual books that are organic & of substance. For us nothing beats that unique smell of a new book & the crinkling sound of new pages being pried open for this first time.
Since the advent of stories being purchased in electronic format & the somewhat demise of physical bookshops it is wonderful that Great Escape Books are investing in keeping the magic alive and doing their best to enrich the wider reading community.
Even though we live in Melbourne we look forward to making this our first port of call when in search of our next read if not always in person then by way of their on-line store.
[Conclusion]:
Situated approximately 850 metres from the Split Point Lighthouse they are easy to find & we highly recommend that a special stop here is included in your itinerary. All in all Great Escape Books offers a warm, friendly atmosphere allowing you to take as long as you wish to browse, enjoy a cuppa & a chat. So why not bring your family in to meet theirs & help support a great independent business - we are sure that they will be glad to see you!
Thank you for reading this review, we hope that it has been helpful.

Popped in her for a lovely hour or two browsing and chatting with the lovely owner who had tons of fantastic recommendations. It's a beautiful, airy place packed with books and with couches to read on. If you love stories and reading and are in this place, it's an absolute must-see.

In an era when books are becoming almost commodified, this store reminds you of how they should be. I was looking for a holiday read and heard the owner talking to a new staff. “sure we could probably get by with one staff on the weekends, but when your talking with one customer, you don’t want to have to excuse yourself to serve another”
Great customer service, a passion for books and a great range to choose fr9m for all ages.
A rare gem

This is my favorite bookshop in the whole world. Big statement yes. It's true though. I visit fairly often and ask advice for their recommendations. Without exception Nicole, Sue and the staff listen and deliver. I have never been disappointed. It's a magical place. Thanks bookworms. Xx

With a wide range of books on hand, friendly staff and great coffee, a visit to Great Escape Books is highly recommended as part of your Great Ocean Road experience.
My wife and I were staying at Aireys Inlet for a relaxing weekend away from the pressure of everyday life. After finishing breakfast at one of the cafe's at what is known as the bottom shops in Aireys Inlet, we decided to see what else the shops had to offer.
One of the shops we found, was what I would describe as the best book shop in Victoria. From having an extensive kids section that my 12yo son (or any kid) would love, to cook books, travel, garden, special interest books and novels covering all topics, you are sure to find something to peak your interest.
Whether you want to peruse the shelves or sit on the comfortable couches and enjoy a cuppa, Great Escape Books, is just that, a great escape.
They also offer a personalised gift service, where you tell them about the person who the gift is for and what they like, and they will make suggestions about which book will best suit that person. They will even gift wrap and organise delivery
So stop in, have a chat, have a cuppa and enjoy a great escape.

What a great bookshop! It has a large range of fiction books, so I'd highly recommend visiting as it's sure to have something to read on the beach in summer, or by the fire in the winter.
The lady who was there was very friendly and helpful in helping me choose a book.
Very cozy with nice couches to sit on, and I even spied an Espresso machine behind the counter.
