On the Cumberland Plateau at 1900 feet and above, this area is cooler than the surround. A wonderful upland forest, with trails, many waterfalls, plunge pools, pioneer history -- truly a people's treasure. Three areas: Savage Gulf, Stone Door, and a third with the 14...More

Foster Falls Campground: This campground felt deserted in the middle of the week during the summer. Only 2-3 sites were being used. As two females camping with two little kids, it (almost) felt borderline unsafe just because there wasn't any other families around. It is...More

DO THIS! We hiked out to the Sycamore Falls on the Fiery Gizzard. Round trip took about 2 hours? But we were hustling because it was getting late and I wasn't sure how long it would take us. And "hustling" on this terrain ain't easy....More

The Sewanee domain offers so much and exploring this area during the summer is an absolute must. Locals can tell you about hidden waterfalls and pools for a nice dip after a hike!

I intend to do a backpacking trip here as it has been an area on my list for years. Wondering how that would go with weather for the area in Mid-March? I am from Wisconsin so cold isn't an issue, I am worried about snow or rain that month causing problems. I have gear for it, but the people tagging along have only done a few trips and nothing in snow.
