About
Experience the Magic at Luna Park Sydney! Built in the 1930s, Luna Park is a harbour-side amusement park that still contains traditional midway games and rides. The Park is open year-round; generally every day during NSW School Holidays, and Friday to Monday during the school term. It is advised to check their website for current opening hours. - Patrick WSydney, Australia35 contributionsEnjoyment in the LUNA North Sydney amusement park. This place will put a smile on your face for sure. Enjoy the amazing time with family and friends here at the amusement park. It's free to get into the park, at least it was on the Sunday we went it. Wonder around and hear all the great laughter from everyone on the rides.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 November 2023
- Kathryn JBrisbane, Australia61 contributionsGreat roller coastersWe expected a small park with a few rides but wow those rides packed a punch! The Big Dipper, the boomerang and the tango train were our favourite rides. The attendants were all friendly and helpful. Fun for all ages!Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 25 February 2024
- smiler1956Birmingham, United Kingdom608 contributionsTheme parkVisited with my wife and daughter. A small theme park beside Sydney Harbour bridge, with a couple of good coasters. A good park for young children although we were disappointed that we had to buy an all day ticket to go on anything rather than just a ticket for the coaster that we wanted to try. Food was also geared up for parties, as we could not enter the cafeteria due to private party bookings. Not somewhere i will rush back to.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 28 March 2024
- Mairwen1United Kingdom11,630 contributionsHarbourside Fun Park - Free to Walk ThroughIt always surprises me that Luna Park exists where it does, right on the waterfront of Sydney Harbour, at the foot of the Harbour Bridge. The giant face which forms the entrance has been grinning its maniacal, kinda fun but kinda creepy, smile at Sydney-siders for decades. Built in 1935, the fun park has retained a retro feel which makes it nice to stroll through. However it’s best seen in the evening. What appears a bit shabby during the day, is transformed as the lights come on and turned into something a little magical. We recently caught the ferry from Circular Quay to Milsons Point at sunset and because we had a bit of time on our hands, we walked through the park. The ferry ride is only short and takes you right under the Harbour Bridge. It’s a lovely time of the day to be on the harbour and many photographers were lining the waterfront with their tripods and cameras set up to catch the stunning views. Entry is free, which I hadn’t realised before. Anyone can stroll through - you only pay if you’re doing rides or games. We didn’t have the time or inclination for either but if we did, the ferris wheel would have been my pick of the rides, for the view alone. It’s worth noting that it is cheaper to book online and in advance compared to buying tickets once you’re there.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 April 2024
- Abelah-adventuresMelbourne, Australia40 contributionsGreat fun for the family, but a bit expensive.Luna Park Sydney is in a amazing location with great views from parts of the park. Entry is free, but tickets for rides/experiences can very quickly add up for a family. Plus side is you don't have to buy a ticket if you are just going to walk around or supervise. Some of the attractions were a bit dated, but the park is clean and well organised and staff are helpful. There are newer rides towards to back of the park. The canvas sack slides were a massive hit with my 9 year old. He could happily have spent the whole day there. We had a great family afternoon here. I recommended arriving late afternoon and staying once it gets dark so you can experience the park with all of the lights on.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 14 July 2024
- Peter R2 contributionsLuna Park - just for queuingCome and queue. Buy your unlimited queue time pass. The operators of Luna Park have figured out the best way to maximise profit is to (legally) keep ride maintenance costs to a minimum, is to minimise use of the rides. How do you do that during opening hours? Easy, get everyone queuing. With no competition, they design their rides for slow loading/unloading. The rides are the attraction. But you’ll have fun if you like queuing. Clever strategy Luna Park. An (almost) invisible way to skim profit from us (sucker) customersVisited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 9 August 2024

We were staying in Sydney and had to visit the park! Our kids were happy with only going for a couple of hours though so we actually arrived on a Sunday night at about 7:30pm. The park closed at 9pm so we only got a little bit of experience but because we chose a quieter time I think it was much more fun!
Both our girls were able to ride most rides alone (both in yellow zone) so we just purchased two rides for both of them. They went on the Ferris wheel together and then chose one each separately. We also got them 2 carnival games each. Total was $59. They LOVED it. They did there rides and games and then there was a street show on. The performers were really engaging and both girls got up dancing with them. We then got some dinner, some fairy floss and it was time to go! The girls both said they had a wonderful experience and being from QLD with the theme parks up here it was all they needed!
I completely recommend cutting it short, experiencing a few things at a much quieter time than trying to make a day out of it.

Long queues, staff were nice enough but poor at transitioning groups as one ride finished and the next group started. It took two hours to get in after pre-buying tickets, their system is archaic. People jumped the queue to get into the park and this was viewed by staff but nothing was policied. We were there for seven hours and only managed five rides and we didn’t stop for lunch, didn’t even stop for the bathroom. There was zero sense of urgency from the team despite the queues building. It was a very frustrating and disappointing day. The tickets were also very expensive for rides that are mostly basic.

I attended Luna Park on a Monday with adult children and grandchildren. It is very expensive and overrated. the price for a pass was $75 each!!!. There are limited rides for small children and pensioners but the price is the same. We opted to just go into Coney Island which cost $20 and for that their are 4 rides to go on. You can go on the rides over and over nut you have to wait for one operator who may be at another ride. The OH & S rules are over the top and you cannot ride without someone watching and checking. Some things were out of order and appeared to have been for a while. The food prices are just as bad with a childs hot dog costing $12 and a chicken roll $17. You can walk in for free if you just want to look around but give it a big miss and ride a ferry or go to somewhere else in the city.

‘Ello chaps!
Luna Park is a small amusement park located on the northern shore of Sydney Harbor. It’s easily accessibly by boat or train, located the opposite side of the harbor as the was Sydney Opera House and “the rocks”.
Luna Park has been open since October 1935 and has several dozen amusement rides including small roller coasters. The park is FREE to enter and walk around, although you have to pay based upon the number of rides. Price also depends on height restrictions since the taller you are the more rides you can actually go on. This makes pricing much more affordable for families.
This is a fantastic park to take a stroll through and enjoy a few hours of fun family time.
There are a few gift shops and small little full service and quick service dining options.
That with its location make sit a wonderful spot to check out for visitors and locals alike.
It’s not Disney World, but that’s also part of its charm.
Overall I give Luna Park in Sydney five stars out of five.

We came with 3 kids yet the 2 youngest can’t go on many rides. The dusk ticket has better value for money unless you can use Entertainment Book 25% discount. Better come by ferry or train as parking is pretty expensive!

Love the decor & the old time stuff. The chair-o-plane & the dropper were good. The covid check in was badly organised & arduous. Even though it was off season & it was not over crowded the queue times were way too long & no one was policing teen queue hoppers, waiting around is very frustrating. Seemed to be no rhyme or reason as to why so many spaces on some rides were left vacant, I know there’s social distancing to be adhered to but it was inconsistent - which added to queue times. A lot of things were closed for renovations which would make you wonder why they wasted lock down time. The kids enjoyed it but our local annual travelling carnival is better, no real reason to go out of your way to go to Sydney for a few carnival rides. Luna park has so much potential but there’s a very half arsed feeling to how it’s run.

When there last night with family of 5 (3 younger kids) during Vivid promotion period(630pm-930pm). Adult ticket was $35 and Kid ticket was $25. Bought on site at 6pm.
Queue was reasonable. Most of the popular ride(bumper car, sledgehammer, tango train) were queued as the next second batch. Most of the kids ride were without queue(very good for kids). Ferris Wheel had the longest wait time(20-30min) due to its slow nature, which i think not worth the wait.
Within these 3 hours, we got 6-8 different rides + playthrough Coney Island. Overall fun and memorable experience with the kids. Reasonable priced as well.

Luna Park are extremely unreasonable and money hungry. We bought 6 tickets at $300 for 29th December. Due to public health advice we decided it was best not to travel to Sydney from the central west and potentially risk bringing Covid back or having to isolate for 14 days once we return. Luna Park refuse point blank to let us reschedule our tickets as they are ‘Covid safe’. Milsons Point was even listed as a hot spot yet they still refused! Every other experience we had booked in for this holiday happily let us reschedule however Luna Park would not budge. We didn’t ask for a refund, we just asked to attend on a different date. Disgusting behaviour. My family will never ever return to the this park.

My wife and I waited 1 hr 50 minutes for a small roller coaster ride that lasted 2 minutes. People were jumping the queue with no one supervising. The Ferris Wheel "lost power " with People stuck on the ride for 45 minutes!!!
Honestly, my wife and I enjoyed the Ferry ride(FREE) from Circular Quay to Milson's Point more than the not so amusing park.

Visiting Sydney for a bit and due to unforseen cirumstances I wanted to reschedule my ticket.
However, it wasn’t and it wasnt even refunded. I paid about 170$ for the ticket plus games and they just took every penny.
Customer service is pretty bad as well as they do not reply within working hours, they replied to me about 12AM-1AM after emailing them in the afternoon.
Too bad there’s no 0 stars, I would’ve given it to them.
Tickets should be atleast refundable and/or can be rescheduled.

Can you buy individual tickets for rides?
Written 28 December 2023
Do the rides operate right up until closing time (8pm) or do they start closing down earlier?
Written 2 September 2023
Luna Park's operating days and times are variable. Sometimes they have special functions on and may be closed to the public. Best to call them close to when you are thinking of visiting.

Hi! Planning on a Monday in the July school holidays to visit Luna park with my 9yr and 6yr kids, just trying to work out how much time to spend at the park if we arrive at 10am. I’m assuming it will be busier than weekends? Bought tix already online. Thanks!

Is Luna Park open on weekdays or just during the weekend, what would be a must see or must do when visiting the park
Written 24 February 2020
Days open depends on time of the year. It is open just about every weekend and school holidays. The website has a great calendar with opening hours.
The park has numerous rides and you just walk through the park. It’s lots of fun and you can easily see it all.

Quite certain that you can hire lockers and that they are located just past the ticket office and near the toilets.
