Neighbourhood: Manly
A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is a great way to experience Sydney Harbour Bay and the Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants as well, especially along the family-oriented areas like Shelly Beach. An excellent way to experience Manly is to rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike paths and off road trails. The North Head National Park is another must-see. Located on the southern tip of Manly, North Head National Park offers great bushwalks and panoramic views of the city.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We took a long walk along the sea wall and were charmed by this small swimming pool installed against the rocks with a small place for sunning. Inventive!

Yup, we had a quick paddle in the Fairy Bower pool, it would be a crime not too, seeing it created in the rocks along the coastal walkway. Quite magical (if busy)

This is an excellent initiative to build a pool adjacent to the sea.
Makes for safe swimming and especially so for children.
One will find this pool walking between South Steyne and Shelly Beach.

Worth the walk around to the pool. Lovely safe place for swimmers, especially with children. The statue on the edge of the pool is beautiful.

This almost triangular pool juts out over the water at Fairy Bower, alongside the path from Manly to Shelly Beach. I have gone past this pool countless times and this summer I decided to come here for a swim.
The inside of the pool has been painted a nice blue colour, which makes the pool very inviting. It has sweeping views over the water. On the edge of the pool stands an iconic statue called “The Oceanides” which was irreparably damaged in storms a few years ago and has now been reinstalled in bronze.
The pool is opposite a café and there are public bathrooms and showers nearby (also replaced after that damaging storm). The pool is popular with families and is also a great spot for photos. A friend of mine had some of her wedding photos taken here.
At certain times of year swimmers at this pool may be lucky enough to spot whales in the water nearby. Back in 2017 a rescued baby great white shark spent a bit of time here recuperating after washing up on a beach.
