A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is a great way to experience Sydney Harbour Bay and the Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants as well, especially along the family-oriented areas like Shelly Beach. An excellent way to experience Manly is to rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike paths and off road trails. The North Head National Park is another must-see. Located on the southern tip of Manly, North Head National Park offers great bushwalks and panoramic views of the city.

This is a lovely park in a quieter corner of Manly, perched up above Little Manly Beach. It offers plenty of shady spots for picnics or just relaxing, a good playground and grassy play areas for bigger kids. From the point there are superb views across Sydney Harbour.
The park is on the site of the former Manly Gas Works, which closed down in 1964. The rehabilitation of the site has been a long-term process but it is now a wonderful recreational asset for locals and visitors to Manly.

Formerly the site of a gas works, it was transformed into a park in the early 1990s. It’s a great example of regeneration of an area whilst maintaining some of its past. There’s many information signs scattered throughout the site which give you more information on its industrial past, as well as a few left over relics. There’s a small children’s play area, grassy sunny and shaded areas, lots of benches for sitting, and picnic & BBQ areas down by the water with a great view of the harbour.

This point a short walk from the wharf is much quieter but has several levels of grass, a playground, and then at the end of the point and at some waterside levels are benches with great views of the harbour and even a few city towers rising over Middle Head.

It's worth it to take the long walk along the sea to the Point to get the great views of the area. Go on a sunny day.

A well-made path winds around the point offering excellent views of Manly and Sydney Harbour. It is particularly pleasant early in the morning when there are few people around,

This pretty park area is just up from Little Manly Beach and is surrounded by water. It is on an elevated piece of land which looks out to the harbour. At about 1pm on Boxing Day you can get glimpses of the start of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. It's not the best place to view the yacht race, but it's uncrowded and you can see the procession of super maxi's passing through the headland past a row of onlooking boats and ferries.
The park has lots of shaded areas where you can sit and have a picnic. There is a children's playground, some car parking and drinking fountains. Public toilets are at the nearby beach which is just a short walk away. There is a path that runs along the park and connects up to Collins Flat Beach.
