Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Brookie!
I love you, but you really are a dump. A serious dump.
And that is why I love you. You have charm and character.
Rest of the sports grounds in town are horrible sanitised and don't start me on the monstrosity of 'Stadium Australia' out at Homebush.
And you sure do attract you're share of characters to the ground but that's half the fun.
I mean how can you not love a top level sporting team that play at a ground where you can still buy cans of beer. Cans! Sure the beers are awful, but cans!
FYI - beer sales stop just after the second hand kicks off
If you're in the area on game day it's a must do. Buy a General Admission ticket, sit where you want (within the GA Zones of course), move if you want, find a seat if you want, stand on the hill if you want, cheer on the opposition if you really want.

March to October each year sees the NRL (National Rugby League) competition played out each weekend on various parts of NSW, QLD, the ACT, VIC and New Zealand.
There are generally 8 games each weekend staggered from Friday to Monday.
Most bars in the Sydney area will show games live on TV (Often on big screens) and it’s a good experience to sit with locals in a crowded bar to watch a game but, if you get the chance, it's great to get to a game, soak up a bit of the local culture and see how the locals enjoy their most popular sporting code.
The Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles are one of the most successful sides of the modern era and their ground (Brookvale Oval) is located on Pittwater Rd Brookvale (Easily accessible by public transport from Manly and surrounding suburbs)
The club website gives details on location, how to get there and lists of fixtures to be played at the home ground (there are 10 games a season played at Brookvale, 2 at another venue classed as a "home" game and 12 at "away" grounds - there is then a series of "finals" games in and around September each year that are typically played at the Sydney grounds of the Sydney Football Stadium, Moore Park (Paddington) and the Olympic Stadium (Homebush).
Admission costs are to Brookvale Oval are fairly reasonable ($28 - $62pp with discount family passes available (2 Adults/2kids) with both sitting and standing options available inside the ground.
It's best to purchase tickets prior to going to the game (Check the website for details) and it's a popular pastime for people to congregate at licensed venues close to the ground from around 2- 3 hours before kick-off to meet friends for a cold drink and a bite to eat.
The Manly Leagues Club and the Brookvale Hotel are two of the most popular watering holes within a short stroll to the ground - both are safe options for food and drink and offer family friendly areas.
There are a number of other options close to the ground including McDonalds, the Brookvale Chinese Restaurant and roast chicken shops, cafes etc. that cater to the fans.
You can buy club colours (scarves, club shirts etc.) which are great gifts or souvenirs at merchandise stalls at the ground and also food and drink.
For those not familiar with NRL games, they are played over 2 halves of 40 minutes with a short break in between.
The games are fiercely competed and the layout of the ground allows you to get really close to the action.
The action is fast and furious, the tackles are fierce and the players incredibly athletic and skilful – it’s quite a sporting spectacle and very exciting to watch.
One side (Jane Try/Ken Arthurson stands) and one end of the ground (Steve Menzies/Bob Fulton Stand) offers seats under cover.
There is an open air “Family Hill” (No alcohol served and plenty of room to lay down a blanket and let the kids run around) and (also open air) “Eastern Hill” where some of the more “vocal “ supporters tend to congregate.
As both the Family and Eastern Hills are uncovered it’s worth checking the weather forecast to dress appropriately (sun screen and hat for day games when it’s hot... and warm clothes in the cooler months)
Post-game, many of the supporters head back to local bars to celebrate (or commiserate) their teams performance and if the Sea Eagles have won celebrations can go on for many hours!
Going to a “footy game” at “Brooky” is a great experience, the games are great and it’s a fantastic way to mingle with the locals away from the usual “touristy” trail.
Depending on kick off time it's a great day or evening out and easy to spend time in near by Manly and then go to the game and kick on for food and/or drinks locally at the Brookvale Hotel or the Leagues Club (with regular busses back to Manly or the city on Pittwater Rd which runs alongside both venues), Or - go back to Manly or back to the city dependant upon where you've travelled from.

The home of my favorite NFL team - the mighty Manly Warringah Sea Eagles - so I can't criticize it. For rugby league purists this is your classic suburban footie ground. It's still got a lot of grass-covered hill so roll out your picnic rug on a weekend afternoon. Facilities are adequate and for a close up rugby league experience that's what you want - not some less-than-half-filled stadium. "Go Manly!" - and visit their leagues club just around the corner, to celebrate (or bag the bloody referees again)

We travel from south sydney and it is always worth the trip. The home games are always great to watch live. No other club has the same feel as brookvale, the crowd is always very vocal with chants etc which help rev up the team. Never a dull moment. We have always been happy with our seats, it is not a huge stadium so you can always see pretty well. Best toilets in the NRL, huge so you never have to queue. Small but important point!

On my recent stay in Sydney I twice attended games here watching once the Waratahs and once the Sea Eagles. On each occasion I enjoyed the atmosphere the crowds generated. A large stadium with grassy banks on two sides does not to my knowledge exist in the UK. It was a real joy to sit on the grass and watch a sporting event. I don't think I would be saying that if it rained though. One difference between the two visits was that for the Waratahs game the queues for food and drinks were lengthy but almost non existent for the Sea Eagles game. I look forward to attending here again on my next stay in Sydney

The facilities at Brookvale Oval are not great with two sides in the open air; great if the weather is fine but less so in the rain. Even in the members’ stand you get wet in heavy rain.
The atmosphere is like a football ground from the 1980s. The good part being that it is an unsophisticated local ground and you feel part of the local team and community. With less than 10,000 present it did not generate a “buzz”. Needs some TLC and significant investment.

My partner and I had dinner here last night after arriving in the area. We wanted a nice meal & a couple of drinks. Both our meals were absolutely beautiful I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana which was huge. My partner ordered Barramundi which he said was really good. The meals were well priced & very fresh.

It feels like an old football ground and it has had little upgrade or investment in the grounds recently due to disputes between local council and the Manly team. Went there on Fri night about 15,000 people there, nice vibe but bad result
