The place was locked up until Easter. So it was a bit of a wasted journey. Never mind, there was a really nice baker nearby

Entertaining and informative. Reasonably priced, you can easily spend an afternoon here reading about the history of the gaol and the kids loved the gory stories. Well maintained but i doubt it was so welcoming a hundred years ago.

I went there for a paranormal activity investigation last night from 10pm to 4am with Gwynedd Paranormal Activity investigation groups. I really enjoyed it it was cold but interesting. I did bekieve in ghosts before but I believe in them even more now. I would do it again. Its a really interesting and fascinating place.

Brilliant and very reasonable! We loved the visit around the gaol! Very informative and more or less just as it was! Some very spooky spots and brilliant that you can wander freely around..unlike a lot of other places. Very reasonable and held the interest of a 7 and 13 yr old. We visited while Halloween event was on which made... More

An historical eye opener - not recommended for the illiterate, as the attraction is full of informative facts for those that wish to interact and find out more by reading the plentiful information boards which provide a clear view of life in the prison. Being able to explore at your own leisure and the ability to enter the cells and... More

Very poor tour. Basically you pay your money and are left to wander around with no real information. Could not recommend.

Visited Beaumaris Gaol - a definite for every visitor. A fascinating insight into life in a Victorian prison. Being able to wander around and go in all the rooms and read about the life of a prisoner - chilling. This is a resource that should not be left to close. They are in desperate need of funding, as the Council... More

Well worth visiting, be aware though it's closed on Fridays. We had planned to go Friday but went Saturday before we left Beaumaris. A preserved old building which really shows how the gaol used to be,. Quite emotional in places and fascinating.

We visited yesterday..fascinating insight into prison life in 1829!..very eerie! We went with our Anglesey family..the only thing I would mention is my 2 year olds buggy wouldn't fit through all the gates (so we had to remove a wheel!)..not a problem at all, just be prepared if you go with a buggy!!! My 5 year old loved it and enjoyed... More

This place, along with the Courtlhouse are seriously under-advertised. Both of them are absolutely fascinating. We had an audio guide at the Courthouse which was informative without giving too much information. The gaol is very large and well preserved and has the actual treadmill that the prisoners were forced to use in the grounds. It gives a very good picture... More
