During a circular walk around Monmouth, it was great to come across this historic structure and walk through to another part of the town - and back again, through a different part of the gate!

In the town itself and hard to miss. Once the gateway into the historical town of monmouth and still interesting being a fortified gateway bridge. Nice sitting on the wall watching the bird life- even saw a kingfisher.

This is a magnificent old bridge with gatehouse standing proudly at the bottom of the Main Street, where it has stood guarding the entrance since 1270. It's had many uses over the years and it's well worth a visit.

According to the guidebook I had, this is one of the only intact bridges in Europe that still has the sleeping quarters attached. It is very cool, & worth a visit.

The car park at the bottom of the town is right beside the bridge - look for Waitrose 👍
