Popped into here as a stop on the Monmouth heritage trail. Interesting information boards about the Chartists and the assizes held here. Pop down into the holding cell area to see them awaiting their fate. Tiny cells with very little room. Followed most of the...More

Very welcoming young man on the desk at the front. Invited us to explore for free. Display panels tell the story of the Chartist trials and the shocking plight of poor people at the time. There is a lift down to the miserable cells in...More

We do not appreciate loud music being played into early hours of the morning during functions on a Saturday night. Surly the music should be turned down after 10 to ensure people living in the surrounding buildings can sleep

This Hall is the most prominent building as you walk up through the town of Monmouth. It is well preserved and hosts many events.

Henry V and the battle of Agincourt and Charles Rolls, the aviation pioneer in one square. Well worth a detour to see the impressive Shire Hall.

Not much to see or do, but a 'must see' for Monmouth. Quite historic and interesting and very good photos at night time with excellent lighting. We were there at 8pm so not sure if it is worth it during the day. The history is...More

Henry's head looks too big for the rest of him! Liked it so much that we deferred our coffee (we were passing through and just on a break), to visit the Shire Hall (entry free, always a bonus), it is interesting, so much so that...More
