Sun Studio - The place where an 18 year old Elvis Presley recorded his first song.

It’s well-known in the music industry as "The Birthplace of Rock 'N' Roll" and the most famous recording studio in the world. Opened by rock pioneer Sam Phillips in 1950, this national Historic Landmark is where superstar musicians like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and countless others started their recording careers.

Today, Sun Studio still serves as a recording studio in the evenings while hosting public tours during the daytime hours.

I visited Christmas Eve of this year and it was a wonderful trip through the rock & roll years. As a musician, I was particularly excited at viewing the equipment and the stories of how it all began. A few months later, I saw the performance of the Million Dollar Quartet. Seeing that and my memories of Sun Studios, really... More

One of the great things you learn on visiting Sin is the story of the night all the stars aligned and Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Oresley played there spkntaneously. The rven marked the floor where they stood. It is like visiting Vatican City or the Morman Tabernacle in Salt Lake City... It's slso a fun... More

If you love rock and roll by all means take the Sun Studio Tour. The tour guide is filled with stories about what went on during the time all the singers and groups were being discovered. You will see so much history it is hard to take it all in. Parking is not a problem.

This was an amazing building steeped in history. The tour was conducted by a lady who to say the least is very passionate about sun studios. I was great to see this place is still used today and by some stars you wouldn't expect! A definite must. They also provide a curtesy coach to Graceland saving $20 taxi!

Small place, you visit two rooms, one which is is a small museeum and the other which is the studio. You can also drink something as there is a bar before the entrance of the studio.

I live in Memphis and this is where we take all of our out of town guests. Fun tours and more interesting than Graceland! Small children are not allowed but they wouldn't like it nor would the guests like the distraction. Sometimes there is a wait because bus tours are always there.
