Drive out to Lochbuie until you think you must have missed it. Find the old Post Office at the shore, then walk along the path to the castle. The standing stones are just a few minutes away by another path. Best to look up the...More

Ruined castle in pretty good condition. You can walk all round it, but not in it. Nice easy walk there from Lochbuie with wild rhododendrons and irises everywhere.

We took the road less travelled out to Lochbuie to see the ring of standing stones and Moy Castle. The road is rough (single track and crumbling away) and we hit a sharp rock and tore open a tire. Nevertheless, it's an amazing drive with...More

The ultimate stop for my wife - the McLean's of Loch Buie castle. We parked at the end of the public road (well signed) and traipsed up the sheep path (dodging inevitable sheep droppings and sheep) to the small bridge leading over to the castle....More

Lochbuie is thoroughly charming. We parked near the Old Post Office - an honesty shop that wonderfully sets an appropriately winsome tone (and with some fabulous local food on offer). The information board at the shop describes the diverse points of interest: St Kilda's -...More

The castle is boarded up, but it's part of a beautiful walk that is definitely worth doing in this area. Park at the old post office/honesty shop, lovely concept which was quite busy when we were there. I only stopped in it to grab some...More
