Love this place, first time I have been out to it this late in the year, but as always the colours and scenery do not disappoint.
I was surprised to see there was still a lot of birds to see and on the plus side...More
Hermaness was definitely one of the highlights of our Orkney and Shetland trip.
We had one day on Unst and decided to start from the North, which turned out to be a good decision.
The weather was the best hiking weather we could ask for...More

Tel 01957 71166 local Garage to check on Public transport. There is a daily bus at 7.55am from Lerwick, gets to Unst about 11am. Walk over Hermaness takes a few hours to do it justice. There is a bus back to Lerwick at 4pm from Baltasound, but unless you are fit and fast, I would allow an overnight stop before or after. There is cheap hostel type accommodation at Saxavord or Gardiesfauld Youth Centre.
