Took me back to my childhood

The Museum is situated in the old Station and is well worth the £2.50 entrance fee and has many interesting exhibits and information from the past.

The Museum of Childhood occupies part of Strathpeffer's old Highland Railway station, built at the terminus of the old branch line from Dingwall. The nicely restored building also houses refreshment and craft facilities and the complex is well worth a visit if you are passing along the valley. .

Lack of time meant I couldn't re-visit but it was great last year. It's still there and the lady I bought postcards from was very friendly. It's packed to the rafters with quirky and interesting items from everyone's childhood. Just loved it!

A small exhibition of childhood memorabilia. It was enough to pass half an hour before having a cup of tea in the nearby cafe. A lovely location and nice to support the good work done here. Four stars because it is so tiny but obviously it is well loved by the volunteers.

This is a small local museum, created by local volunteers. It’s basically just one room, but they fitted a lot into it, including a video of interviews with locals who were born in the times when children still went barefoot in the summer. I found the section on local superstitions and traditions particularly interesting, but the majority of exhibits are... More

Lovely staff, but even though there is only a nominal entry fee, there's not a great deal to see. What is there is very interesting, and the ladies who are there are absolutely lovely, compared to the pump room, which is free, poor value for money. Hopefully this will be enlarged over time to make it better. Great start, but... More
