We parked in the overflow car park as it was a hot and very busy day - parking is free. The beach was busy but we could see why - it is a long stretch of sandy beach which is clean and great for a walk or family day out. Really enjoyed our time here.

This is such a beautiful beach stretching for miles in either direction with free parking and an overflow car park so plenty of room.

We settled ourselves onto our picnic rug, enjoyed a few rays of sunshine, read our books and relaxed for a couple of hours.
Then having packed everything back into the car we walked the full extent of the beach to the north and back. As it was a Saturday there were many families enjoying the sunshine but so much room it would never get overcrowded.

A great stop off!

We had a gorgeous time on Dornoch beach. It was recommended to us by a friend who lives locally and so we jumped at the chance to visit. We were not disappointed and the sand is delightful. It goes on for ages and holds small, shallow pools of water, great for kiddies and doggies alike! I highly recommend Dornoch beach, I think you'll really enjoy it!

The Beach is beautiful. The views and sunsets are stunning. Do not feed the seagulls, though, as they leave a terrible mess. Dornoch village is a lovely wee place to visit. Sadly, due to a rise in Covid numbers, our age and health issues, we decided not to eat out or take any chances visiting areas where other people congregated. When this is all over, we might go back to Dornoch.

Before parking opposite the grass area which display signs of no parking, checked with a man waliking his dog that we were ok to park up and he agreed there were no signs opposite the park, had a loveley evening we had a visit from an irate man who requested that we moved on, tried explaining that there were no signs for no overnight parking where we were parked.
This man payed us 2 visits with 2 different cars, he was very emotionally dysregulated, rude, and on the verge of crying when he found out that after his first visit we tried to phone the nearby campsite, which did not answer (we are wondering what his relationship is to the campsite)

Just warning others this place is not for overnight parking we were threatened with a visit from the ranger, we have never experienced this kind of welcome anywhere in the world before.

We were forced to move on the the next village, Golspie, which promoted and encouraged overnight parking, shame really as we planned on spending a few hours in Doornoch, will not be visiting again.

Dornoch beach is truly beautiful, sandy beach. You can plan an endless walk as the beach is so long and when there is low tide there is a huge space. There is a small car park but we were in a hotel very close, so we walked to it every morning and evening. There is a path in between the golf course. We were lucky with the weather as it was nice and sunny and the sunrise and sunset was beautiful.

A beautiful stretch of beach with golden sand. Plenty of parking space and there's also a food shack near the car park and toilets if you need.
A few sea potatoes washed up on the shore which are odd looking things. A small rocky area and fringed with sand dunes.
Local bird life to be seen and people were swimming in the sea whilst we were there. Waves crashing late afternoon whilst the tide was in. Next morning the tide was out with barely any waves and revealing a massive sandy beach.
A lovely place to take a walk and get some fresh air.

We loved walking in either direction on this beautiful beach. A lovely stroll to the west will take you to Embo Pier around an hour away at a decent walking pace. It’s simply joyous to walk on a fairly quiet beach and enjoy the wind in your hair. An awesome part of the World.

This long sandy beach just goes on as far as you can see ... and then on again ...

It is clean, has free parking along from a toilet block maintained by volunteers before then going into what looks a pay and display car park. There's also a fun play area for kids with simple, musical instruments, little trampoline etc. However, the beach is the star of the show

Serene, quiet, remote and safe. Shame it’s not 30 plus degrees but this is north Scotland!
Soft sand and some rock pools for the smaller kids to keep them amused. Lovely park next door also.
