We have been on many distillery tours but learned so much more here. Great chat and info. Loved the cat and mouse catcher story.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 October 2023
- lordofglencoe83662Aberfeldy, United Kingdom58 contributionsBest café in Crieff. This relates only to the Glenturret café, not the distillery tour. A fantastic little eatery with wonderful home made scones, cakes, soup, pastries etc. All beautifully served and brought to your table. I like the way they leave jugs of water and an ice bucket so you can help yourself. Simple unpretentious food that is great value. Don't leave without trying the Haggis, Tattie & Neeps sausage roll (or the vegetarian equivalent. Or the loos - really nicely done with quality soaps etc.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 October 2023

- Dan JDerby, United Kingdom16 contributionsScotland's Oldest DistilleryA fantastic tour of Scotland's oldest distillery, great delivery by our guide Karen throughout. A brilliant insight to the history of the distillery and the magic needed to make the perfect drop, all rounded off with a free dram. Also worth checking out the Lalique gallery in the gift shop. Thanks to the cats Glen and Turret too, keep up the great work. Fully reccomended and hope to visit you againVisited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 November 2023

The tour was really good, learning about the hard work and knowledge that goes into creating whiskey. The distillery is in an amazing location well worth visiting. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The shop had a great range of gifts. The cafe had good food at sensible prices and the whiskey is wonderful.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 5 November 2023
- Becki JayEdinburgh, United Kingdom40 contributionsVery good tour from JohnEasy to find, parking outside the entrance. Very warm welcome from the staff. We ended up with a private tour as it was just the two of us, and our guide John was brilliant. A friendly fountain of knowledge and we could not have asked for a better guide. Only feedback was that the shop was on the expensive side which is understandable but at the same time didn’t encourage us to buy anything other than the whisky.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 November 2023
- BowSingapore, Singapore43 contributionsGreat experience, even for a non-whiskey drinkerWhiskey adventure at The Glenturret Distillery was unexpectedly awesome! 🥃 Stuart, our host, made it a blast. Who knew I'd end up buying a bottle when I wasn't a fan before? 😂 Also, fun fact: there are cats in the distillery – purr-fectly charming! Highly recommend this spot, plus they've got a Michelin restaurant inside! 🌟Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 November 2023
- David TMenstrie, United Kingdom94 contributionsExcellent Tour & ExperienceThe very informative description throughout the Tour by the Guide, oh & the Tasting of course. We tasted the 'Triplewood' which was apparently around 7yrs old. Glen Turret are trying to get away from the 'the older it is, the better it is' thinking ingredients & we admire them for it.Visited November 2023Written 22 November 2023
- Bianca E1 contributionWhisky Makers Tour by John.My husband and I visited the Glenturret distillery just a few days ago. We had the Whisky Makers Tour and it was worth every penny! John, our guide is awesome. He has a lot of knowledge, he's funny and made us feel really welcome. This was our third distillery tour and because Glenturret is the oldest distillery it was different from the others. I loved hearing about their late Guinness Book of Records cat and meet one of his successors. After the general tour we were taking apart for our Whisky Making part and that was more than interesting and fun! It sure requires a good nose to pick out all these different scents and then creating (and tasting) your own whisky from 5 bottles was a bit tricky, but I loved my own combination! Thank you John for making this an unforgettable afternoon for us!Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 November 2023
- C B112 contributionsInformative and friendlyWe have visited several whisky distilleries over the years and can honestly say this was one of the best. Karen, our guide, was welcoming, friendly and humorous. We learnt things we’d never been told on other tours. The price of £15 each was very good value and included a tasting of the triple wood whisky plus a £5 discount off the purchase of a bottle of whisky. Drivers were given a small bottle to decant their sample into. After the tour and tasting we visited the cafe and enjoyed some lovely drinks and cakes. The cafe staff were also very friendly We would have liked to try the Michelin starred Lalique restaurant but being a Monday it was closed. This gives us an excuse to return. We’d definitely recommend a visit to this distillery.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 7 December 2023

We had an amazing trip to Glen Turret distillery. Amongst the beauty of Crieff, you arrive into a wee haven in the trees with the sound of the rushing river...and then you have the distillery! The distillery tour was excellent and a bargain for the price. We learned all about the making of the whisky (all still by hand) and the methods used. It was fascinating. We then got to try some whisky whilst learning about how to examine and smell it properly. We had enjoyed the experience so much, we asked if we could also do the warehouse experience where we went into the traditional warehouse and got to try 4 whiskies including the 10yo, peated, 30 yo and limited Grace Gow. The interior and granite fountain adds a wonderful touch to the experience.
We ate lunch in the cafe (the restaurant is currently being refubished) and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the soup. I wish I could have taken a pot home! We then headed to the shop for our dream dram experience where our drams were waiting along with our whisky glasses to take home. We tried the Benromach - supporting other distilleries (great to see) before making the hard selection of which good whisky to buy. All advised byt he wonderful staff.
If all this wasn't enough of a great experience, I cannot say enough thanks and gratitude to all of the staff we encountered from reception/booking, the distillery tour, the warehouse experience, the cafe, and the shop. From the moment we arrived until we left, we were met with the utmost professionalism, friendliness, passion, humour, and kindness. It was my father's birthday and they went over and above to welcome him and celebrate his day. We left Glen Turret buzzing with excitement and warmth not just from the delicious whisky, but overwhelmed by the kindness from the staff.I highly recommend Glen Turret distillery.

My wife and I really really enjoyed our Guided Tour of the Distillery. Despite our rain soaked walk to get to there from the Crieff Hydro, the warmth of the welcome more than compensated. Waiting for the tour to start was very pleasant also ( like being a child in a sweet shop). The small Tour for a maximum of 6 personas was superbly organised and eloquently delivered by our very knowledgable Guide who was clearly passionate about the Distillery and the products. Tasting was superb, but I must add that all samples were carefully given in sample pots that we had to take away to enjoy........and yes I did, very much; and although whisky is a very personal preference I can safely say that the Sherry cask edition, the Braebach, and the 15 year old are now among my personal favourites.
We will return and Highly, Highly Recommend this tour to my readers.

Just had a fantastic afternoon here as part of our 3 day tour in the area. We arrived early and had a lovely walk round the river and woods.
We then went into the shop and my wife tried a couple of samples. The staff in the shop were very friendly and were really interested in what we thought of the whiskey and the area. This was really genuine. We ended up buying a bottle of the 10 yr old Smokey whiskey that was lovely.
We then had a very reasonable tea and cake in the lovely cafe.
We then registered for the tour and again the lady booking us in was very friendly and interested in what we thought.
We then spent a very relaxing 45 mins on a tour with Anna who was brilliant. She was very relaxed and answered any question that was asked. We then got another taster and a free gift that was fab I won’t spoil the surprise !!
Overall a wonderful couple of hours in a beautiful location with really friendly staff. Well worth a visit !!

Brilliant tour. Felt welcomed from the moment we booked our tour (Sheenagh kept in touch with our booking) and lovely to meet her in person on arrival. JJ our guide took our small party round the distillery and was full of interesting information and detail about the art of making a good whisky. Massive well done to all staff including the shop and cafe in keeping it covid safe - made us feel truly welcomed and so pleased to see things starting to reopen again. Great value tour and lovely to get a taste of all their efforts at the end. Definitely worth a visit.

Excellent tour with brilliant adherence to current social distancing restriction. Our party of 5 received a “private” tour with Alan who was very friendly and amazingly entertaining - even our 13 year old came away inspired to set up a distillery - Alan even had to check that the ancient miniature pot still was still on site when we left.
Lots of upgrade building work being done at the moment to the visitor experience facilities under the new ownership, but great to hear that there will be no change to the traditional distilling processes.
Thank you so much

My husband and I visited the Glenturret Whisky Distillery and were very impressed by the Tour Guide John and the tour itself was first class. What was even more surprising was the Restaurant/Bar area it was one of the nicest bars I have visited and will return again and will recommend to my family and friends. Julian the bar man was very knowledgeable about the company and the whisky while Stuart provided an excellent gin tasting experience all in all the staff were a credit to the company and the premises first class!

What a fantastic experience for our honeymoon! We did the blending tour and loved getting to mix our own and find out which scents and flavours we best preferred. We were lucky enough to have Gillian show us around and she was absolutely wonderful - friendly and so knowledgeable! I knew very little about whisky and my husband knew lots and yet she themed the tour perfectly so we both got loads from it. The whole distillery is beautiful and it was great to see the brilliant way in which the whisky is made. We also loved the cafe, where the staff were friendly and had some great recommendations for delicious food. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone - it definitely shows that the distillery works as it’s motto ‘by hand and by heart’.

I drove from Glasgow to the distillery to buy 4 bottles of the new range the triple wood, the 10 year, 12 year and the 15 year. I saw it advertised last week and I’m a bit of a collector so decided to visit and buy few bottles, maybe go on the tour. When we arrived the whiskies in question where not on display - the shelves were empty. I asked a lady who told me that they had the whiskies I wanted, but just needed to put them in the shelves. We said we’d have lunch in the cafe and come back, she said ok. We had lunch in the cafe and it was very nice. We then returned to the shop but the shelves were still empty. We asked again saying we actually wanted to buy the 4 bottles in question. Another lady suggested we “go into Crieff for lunch” and return in “an hour or so” and “maybe” the shelves would be stocked then. I regularly visit distilleries and the is hands down the most pathetic and confusing customer service I have ever experienced. If I want to buy whisky in the gift shop and it’s in stock why on earth would I wait an hour for something maybe to happen? Common sense might suggest a member of staff would get what I wanted and sell it to me then and there. Surely that’s the best business practice? A real outlier when it comes to distillery experiences in Scotland. I vote with my feet in these circumstances so needless to say I left, deciding not to try the tour (it seemed employees didn’t really give two hoots about my experience so I was not keen on handing over money) and I did not return. Instead I found a whisky shop in Crieff called JP Gill whisky shop and Deli. I managed to find two interesting bottles and spent £40 more than I’d plan to spend on the bottles at the distillery.

A small distillery where everyone is smiling.
Our guide took us through the distillery and was clearly enjoying the chance to exlain everything about GlenTurret to our group. The distillery is small and almost intimate and we saw evrything from the mash tuns at the the start to the barrels being filled at the end.
The shop was beautifully laid out and had some genuine bargains that can't be found elsewhere.

Absolutely fantastic tour of the distillery on a slightly rainy day. Incredible value for money considering the amount of time, detail, and the samples received. Very friendly staff, very interesting tour and generally a great experience.
The cafe had a limited choice of savoury items at quite a cost but delicious food and nice setting.

Do you do tours for school groups. I have a group of 11 pupils and 3 teaching staff from Germany coming over on an exchange visit and we are hoping to visit a distillery on Thursday 16th March 2023. Do you do tours in German and how long does a tour last? Thank you for your help.

Hi can you visit without doing a tour as they are all full?
Written 5 July 2021
Yes - well stocked shop, a small cafe upstairs ( to be followed soon by a fine-dining restaurant) and some interesting bottles on view at the reception area. In addition the cask filling facility is openly on view. It would however be a shame to miss the tour - Glenturret is not a large distillery, so you get a real feel for how the whisky is crafted.

What is the cost of the distillery tour?
Written 30 August 2019
You might get a slight discount if you reserve ahead of time online, and there are a variety of tours ranging from 10-75 Pounds Sterling ($12-$91). Each tour is described on the Glenturret website. Enjoy! The folks there are very friendly.

Dear duducunha,
Fantastic that you're looking to visit us from Stirling! The number 47 bus isn't very frequent therefore we would recommend travelling from Perth using the number 15 bus as it is much more frequent to travel to us. If you're in Edinburgh we work with companies such as Timberbush, Rabbies and Highland Explorer who offer great day trips that feature The Famous Grouse Experience.
Many thanks,
Lucy.

best way to get to the distillery tours near perth. (The Famous Grouse & Tullibardine Distillery)
Written 23 September 2015
You can phone them on 01764 656565 to find out the time of the tours ( last at 4.30pm in winter) or google as thefamousgrouse
Signed up very well as Glenturret Distillery as you head north from Crieff. Glen Turret is the primary Malt whisky ingredient in blended Grouse whisky. Good cafe and toilets and plenty of parking. NO cameras or phones on the tour itself due to fumes. Generous tasting at the end. Enjoy!!! or try Dewars at Aberfeldy, just down the road from Crieff..

Hi I will be in Edinburgh 26th evening and returning back to London on the 28th of September. I have the 27th Sunday free to do a distillery tour and the 2 choices were the Famous Grouse & Tullibardine Distillery. Trying to figure out best way to do this tour. Should I take the train from Edinburgh to Perth and then take cabs to the two distilleries or is there a better way to travel to these two locations for a tour? Are there tour guides at the Perth train station or should I look up tour guides in Edinburgh that will take me to the two places? Obviously I don't want to spend a lot of money on touring these two places, just the optimum way to do the tour? It will be 2 of us doing this tour?

Hi stasomes, thank you for your question and so sorry for my delayed response. Jane K is indeed correct that we are approximately an hour away from Edinburgh by car. You can take a train to Perth and then catch a number 15 bus out to Crieff where we are based (the Perth train station is almost next to the perth bus station) however on a Sunday the busses are slightly less regular.
There are fantastic bus tours that leave from Edinburgh such as Haggis who often come out to visit us with Edinburgh based guests. Tullibardine would also be accessible by train and bus however I'm unsure as to which Edinburgh tour companies go to Tullibardine. Please don't hesitate to give us a phone on 01764 656565 for any further assistance.
Hope that has been a help to you,

Dear sarahmac159,
Sincerest apologies I had missed your question on our TA page. Dogs are unfortunately not allowed in the distillery unless they are guide dogs which are allowed however there are terraced areas outside our café where you can sit with your dog.
Hope this is helpful to you,
