Loads about Orkney adventurers and the like, plenty abouts boats. All very interesting. Small exhibit for Scara Brae, plus video downstairs. The natural history exhibit upstairs felt added on .

A rather cramped but fascinating museum in a labyrinthine building. The stuffed birds and animals are reminiscent of the Victorian era, but everybody will learn something in that section. The information about shipwrecks and military episodes are often quite touching, but the best bits are...More

A number of rooms to view and all were interesting but I did not like the room full of stuffed animals/birds. The best bit for me was sitting in a seat by a small window and looking at the sea view. I could have lingered...More

A small museum but it’s a wonderful collection which puts the history of Stromness into context. I learned so much about its social history, impact on the wider world and flora and fauna. Don’t miss it, it’s an Orkney highlight.

True gem of Orkney. Museum crammed full of Orkney history. Some very interesting exhibits from the newly discovered Stenness Neolithic village.

One would find a good deal of surprises in chatting with the curators/guides.Perhaps there will be an improvement in the selection of merchandise, especially the Stromness-oriented stuff.Ticket is valid for multiple entries, so take your time.

This is a gem. Well worth a visit for locals and visitors. It has a wide variety of artifacts and information covering the local history as well as a wider history encompassing the relationships across the seas- particularly with the Hudson's Bay Company. Other explorers...More

I think it was five pounds but I wouldn't swear to it. Well worth it in my opinion, anyway.
